Macross Frontier Manga Discussion

I've seen the two volumes, but since I can't understand Japanese, I'm only reacting based on certain images and scenes (drawn very well) presented in the manga.

Spoiler for SPOILERS and IMAGES:

-Sheryl's dad is tres hot.


-Sheryl as Minmay ain't bad either. 8D


-I have to LOL at the scene where Grace and Sheryl's costume-in-charge makes her try on a moe-loli-idol dress, which greatly resembles Ranka's Seikan Hikou dress. And you can tell by Sheryl's face that she isn't really digging into this cutesy stuff. XD Perhaps it was a blessing in disguise when that jealous-loli-idol rival sabotaged her dress, and Sheryl ends up stealing the show with a Victoria's-Secret-lingerie-like outfit--launching her further into fame.


-Sheryl and Alto's first meeting. Nice effect, Alto stopping her hand from slapping one of her staff--and then cue in mesmerized Sheryl at Alto's effeminate-bishie beauty. Well, honestly, who can blame her? XD


-After the concert and the big rescue, Sheryl loses her earring and seeks it out from Alto by enrolling in his school, I guess. That's where she first meets Ranka. And I'm sorry, I have to say....WTF?! Ranka is channeling Snow White with animals like deers, birds, rabbits, etc. surrounding her. My gut got hurt from all the laughing at that one scene. X'D


-Ranka joins the pageant and she gets nervous when she is about to sing. Sheryl encourages her from the judges' table. Ranka sings Aimo, everyone jizzes in their pants. And I guess this is where she (Ranka) becomes famous.


-I'm having a really hard time seeing Grace as the big bad here in the manga. Grace protects Sheryl when the bomb (delivered by Brera Yamato) goes off. She also looks shocked when she notices two Altos and tries to stop the Alto-fraud. Either, Brera is getting orders from someone else or Grace is just THAT good.


-Sheryl and Alto's "date" in the manga will make you D'AAAAW. XD
I especially liked the part where they go to his house and he puts a flower in her hair. (Sheryl then puts this flower in a glass of water ).


-Also, I have to disagree with Yot-chan about Ranka not being that interested with Alto because you have her getting jealous/affected whenever Sheryl is with Alto or when they (Sheryl and Ranka) talk about him. The most telling scene of all (to me) is when she looks somewhat devastated when Alto is sitting beside Grace as they are watching Sheryl's performance. I think Ranka overhears them talking about Sheryl, which makes Ranka look sad. She is then comforted by sis-con Brera.


-Then we have Sheryl's assassination. Everyone is in shock. Alto goes to the stage, cradling Sheryl and shouting. Alto-fraud comes up from behind a scared Ranka and reveals that he is Brera Yamato. Alto points a gun at him, shouting something. Then Brera whisks Ranka away, with little to no resistance from the latter, even as Alto yells her name. That seriously made me go "HUH?!" as to why Ranka would go with Brera without a fight. But I'll give her the benefit of the doubt until we can really understand what's going on. Then finally, Sheryl 'dies' and Alto screams her name.

The texts for the images are so small, I can only make out a little of them. But for the manga image of Alto hugging Sheryl, his last words were "I won't let you die." And Sheryl was saying something about showing everyone that she will protect (?) the important people, and Alto. That's what I understood. She might be dying again and has to sing for the colony.

Now I'm really tempted to buy Kiss in the Galaxy. Correct me if I'm wrong, but currently there are only 2 volumes and the third volume will come out on March? Wonder where I can buy the manga aside from ebay.

I have a question: Did Kawamori ever promote or launch some of these AU manga besides Sheryl's (Frontier speaking)? I know Yoshino did Secret Visions, but I was thinking on the others (the one with moe style featuring Ranka, the mahou Ranka, the Super Class President Sheryl?).

The first two volumes are available through Kinokuniya, at least through the U.S. store. You can reserve it on the Kinokuniya site, and then pick up your book(s) at the store you chose to hold it. (It's really confusing, so ultimately I think ordering off eBay would be easier.)

Interesting. The manga concludes (officially) on March with the last volume (the OST will also be for sale in that month). There is also that short story (Teardrop) that focuses on Alto/Sheryl set as a tie in the Tv series.

I think these are good news for Sheryl fans.

The bride that Alto is carrying isn't real (in the poster). I mean the bride in the trailer (who is different).

He already pulled the bride stunt in DYRL. Fans should be savvy after the Minmay-is-wearing-a-bride-gown stuff (which ended up being a hologram).

Not even close to hikaru...

Brera is much better... I hope brera will kidnap sheryl someday
