Knights of the Zodiac (Saint Seiya live action film)
The Eiga.com news website reported on Friday that a Hollywood live-action film based on Masami Kurumada's Saint Seiya manga has been green-lit. Toei Animation and Chinese distribution company A Really Good Film Company (ARGF) are co-producing the film.
Polish director Tomasz Bagiński, who previously directed the Academy Award-nominated short animation "Katedra," is directing the film. Toei Animation's Yoshiyuki Ikezawa and Kozo Morishita will serve as producer and executive producer, respectively. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...d-film/.116261 |

How many of you are willing to bet that the story will skip right to the Sanctuary Arc?
Also, I really don't know how anyone can properly pull this off without a good amount of budget and somebody who actually knows the inside-out of the source material and also knows how to change and adapt it for a live-action film. I mean, there are so many stupid things in Saint Seiya that they shouldn't just put them in live-action movie. Bring out the good stuffs and leave the bad stuffs for the anime/manga only.

I'm not too confident about this. My reaction to first hearing this was this Still, at least Toei is working too. EDIT: Something I am interested is how are they gonna design the Cloths. Will be they be based on the ones from the late Shingo Araki, the next ones by Michi Himeno or something new. Last edited by Mad Pierrot; 2017-05-18 at 14:08. |

LoS was a very flawed film, but it was a lot of fun, and absolutely beautifully animated to boot.

So the SDCC promise turn out to be mostly nothing-burger but based on this Variety article, they're already shooting in Bulgaria.
And if you read that article, the fact that the Toei producer, Ikezawa Yoshi, is already making this first live action movie with the "setting up for 5 sequels"-attitude has me extremely worried because this sounds too much like Universal's failed "Dark Universe" project or the much-maligned "Percy Jackson" movies that could only go as far as two movies.

Mackenkyu who recently became famous for doing Enishi's role in Rurouni Kenshin The Final plays the role of Seiya which makes me wonder how exactly is the fight coreography is meant to be. The manga's one is so simple it needs to be completly remade. Sean Bean will be Marin so I think he is dead. Apparently the movie will be all the Sanctuary which would be a blessing considering the mess that was the CGI movie

Mark my words, the CGI movie will be considered a masterpiece compared to the Live-action. In fact, I quite liked it, looked great visually and the action was good.
