Hmm, I just gave episode 12 a quick run-through, but I feel that what she's doing right up till now from the moment she started to reprimand Mei in front of everyone seems to stem out of jealousy, something I'm still wondering whether that's the case or not.

When there is no other explanation, use your trump card:
It's the phenomenon's fault!

That was a very spectacular way to go.

This is just a theory of mine, but I think she specifically died because she targeted Kouichi in the end.
(Yeah yeah jelously... Think i already said it back then... 'hell hath no fury like a woman scorned' I actually expected her to survive the anime though, before she got impaled that is)

Well back to topic - I think she died because she tried to attack him.
I also think Kouichi would have never died ddue to the calamity no matter what.
Why? Simply because he was the last one the Another wanted to die in the first place.

Izumi was very minor in the original novel as well in case people are wondering.

Well damn. Glad I watched the majority of the series at once. Don't have to get too attached and can quickly forget before I get depressed about it .

I suppose spectacular is a way to go. Though I think it's kind of a lazy way to resolve a love triangle by just killing part of it. Just kill the crazy guy that was going around stabbing people. The world just isn't right.

Oh well in the end she's not going alone. This whole thing will just be repeated next year. Goes to show better to be the forgotten one than someone who takes responsibility onto yourself. It'll get you killed.

I'm not sure if what we had here even qualifies as a love triangle, it's pretty safe to say that Koichi never even really took notice of Izumi (aside from when she was trying to attack Mei ) and that his attention was focused elsewhere. We do have one sided affection(?)/interest on Izumi's part, but that's as far as it went - I'm not sure if the state of relationship between her and Koichi (nonexistent pretty much) demands a particular resolution. There simply wasn't a whole lot to resolve, and as such she wasn't much of a factor in any potential Koichi x Mei buildup.

Yeah, Kouichi was 100% Mei from the beginning. First girl doesn't win if your memory gets changed.

If Akazawa had an eye patch, i bet she would stand a chance against Mei..

but she is not Moe.. so Koichi would still choose Mei

Goddamn, she's already dead, and then... kill her again? Last pics showing final glimpses of Izumi's body.
