Started with Madoka praying at sea side. She then saw a girl drowning and saved her (Lan came). She was late, and lost/forgot her school uniform, thus she came in her school swimming suit. The girl her saved gained consciousness, based on telephone call by the firemen. MARU .
Lan met Madoka, undress the school uniform, and returned it to Madoka (the uniform she lost/forgot at the beach)
Madoka returned to her house and met her cousin sister, Nakaizumi Youko. Her sister asked Madoka to undress her pants to check something.
Madoka is good with sports (Kendo, tennis, baseball) MARU Then there was a shower scene with Madoka, where Madoka seems to remember something where she was drowning, and touched her butt :P. Lan came (woof) and brought Madoka to a facility. Scene changed to Youko where she murmuring alone about a promise regarding not letting Madoka to pilot a robot

Toyota Array attacked. So the guys are the bad guys? Not for long I wager . Madoka sortied, as Lan explained that Madoka only need to sit, as the piloting will be handled from outside. Array attacked with beam saber, but Madoka ended the fight with a wrestling move. 1, 2, 3. MARU

ED Scene: Somehow I got the feeling the ED will be the girl(s) walking. So I was right. Can't wait for the full version too.

Overall, it was a good episode. I enjoyed Madoka's antics with Ran. Fanservices were not excessive imo.
Maru (round) might have something to do with Madoka's name. It is spelled "まどか", but can also be spelled as using "円", among others.

Some weeks ago, captainMarika did joke with Satou regarding the "Maru" part with Marika's ship, Benten Maru. The "丸" is still "round".

The joke was when Satou changed his twiitter's icon from Ruri (Nadesico) to Marika and Madoka

I have to say, comparing the 2 anime by Satou next year, I'm looking forward to enjoy more Rinne than Mouretsu, May be this has something to do with "Original", and "Novel adaptation".

Episode 1

Madoka is a multitasking super jock who is part of MANY sport clubs. Apparently it has something to do with her being in a so called gym shirt club, which she is the sole member of

She saves a person from drowning one day, but when she comes back to her uniform she took off earlier it has gone missing. Not discouraged by this, she simply wears her gym clothes over her swimsuit and goes to class as usual.

After school, she is met by a strange girl who is wearing her clothes. The strange girl proceeds to strip in public and return the clothes to Madoka. Before Madoka can say anything more, the girl seems to have disappeared from sight.

The next day, Madoka meets the girl again after class when she is trying to recruit more new members for the gym shirt club she created.. because there's no such thing as not enough clubs for Madoka. Madoka is excited that she is finally getting a member for a her club, but is taken a back by how formal the other girl's language is.

Madoka tells the other girl that she thought the other girl was a doushi / 同士 / comrade of the same age, but it appears that the other girl might be her senior judging from her language. The other girl says she does not understand what comrade means. Madoka tells her that it's someone who help each other in needs.

The other girl agrees to be Madoka's comrade, and since they are now comrades, she is in need of Madoka's help. She wants Madoka to get in a giant robot.

Madoka: what...?

So she drags Madoka to an artificial island base, and the plot dictates that this would be a good time for an alien invader robot to attack.

The other girl says that Madoka only needs to get in the robot. The controls itself will be done remotely from the island's command center. Madoka uses this moment to ask just who the hell the other girl is, to which she replies that she's an alien. Madoka seems surprised, but she fires on her next question. Just when exactly did the other girl arrive at this city? The other girl says she arrived yesterday. Madoka is happy with that answer, because it means the other girl hasn't gotten to know the good things about this city yet.. (and Madoka will be glad to show her)

Madoka then rides the giant robot, (which is still in plane form)

As said, the machine is controlled remotely from the island HQ, but it doesn't do very well and only manages to ram into the invading alien robot's energy shield. As this happens, the screen display inside Madoka's machine shuts down and reboots itself, transforming the machine into a robot, and breaking free from the energy shield. Madoka now has manual control over the machine.

The invader does not like what happened and charges at Madoka with its energy sword. Madoka, now having full control of her machine, stops the attack midway.

Madoka says she's pretty good with kendo, but for this occasion she has something else in mind. She then performs a german suplex on the invader. 1...2...3... it's a submission hold win!

So yeah, the show really follows a template so far, but what makes it worth watching is the lead heroine, Madoka.

I don't know, it was funny, but I'm pretty sure I was laughing at the wrong reasons.

Let's see, first, the OP. Ranka sings good songs, so that wasn't the problem. The lyrics? The visuals? Not sure, but something made me facepalm at that point.
Then the robots came out...... The setting of the story is so... Err... Not sure how to react.

The character designs were good. The movements were too (though might just be typical first episode "all out" quality).
Heroine's voice sounds like Mizuhashi + Saten-san / 2.

Will continue watching for now. Once all of the anime start, I'll see, depending on what else is on this day.


PS: Wait, 2-cour? Woah... I'd say that this might mean there will be good, meaningful, depressing developments from here, but I've seen anime waste their 2-cour worth of time on disappointing stuff, so mm...

Somehow Megumi Nakajima just reminds me of Ranka Lee even in real life performances. I think it's that the voice has just become classically conditioned to that character for me at this point. In any case one of the rare examples of current J-Pop stars whose songs I actually like so kind of glad that even though I'm not sure what to expect from this show that they at least got her for the music.

Liked the OP and ED. Lol how Madoka is in every club. Wonder what her sister was checking? Best part was her in the robot suplexing the other robot. It has potential. Liked the design of the mechs as well. When i look at Lan i can't stop thinking about Motoko Kusanagi from the GITS tv series, just because of her outfit.
