Holy cow, Eren! Rather than being a hotheaded who always tries to punch others, he remembered and used Annie's technique to overpower Reiner. Hange's blush was hilarious.

Also, the animation was top notch.

I didn't expect them to "drag" this fight for a full episode, but considering the pacing, it isn't surprising.
I'm actually quite satisfied because they really put a huge emphasis on Eren and Reiner's bodies. In the manga, it didn't feel particularly spectacular with all the grappling move, but the anime really made sure that you can tell Reiner's armor is falling apart and so on.

It is just a pity they had to stick with CGI for the colossal titan. As much as CGI shouldn't pose an issue for this series, the way how CT is rendered is kind of goofy, making it standing out way too much compared to the drawn characters and backgrounds.

I have a problem with the Colossal Titan's CGI too, but the rest of the animation was pure greatness. The anime really does a good job bringing the manga to life.

Best episode of the second season so far!
Notice that Eren calls out Reiner and Bert on allowing the Titans to enter the walls yet he doesn't say anything bad to Annie and even uses her moves against the Armored Titan.
lol at Hange finally getting noticed by a Titan.
And that cliffhanger!
10 out of 10!

I really liked that part where we see the events going backwards to the part where the Armored Titan punched Titan Eren. That was such a sweet and cool detail! Overall, the animation and the moves were simply amazing. The intensity with those two grapling each other was powerful. Even the CGI Colossal looked better this week. Such a shame this will only be 1 cour...

Excellent episode. I surely did want to see Annie fight Mikasa.

Another excellent episode yet again. It felt more gripping than the manga and certain parts made it even better (like Hange instructing Eren what to do, and her reaction. Don't recall that in the manga).

Also, the damage dealt to AT was brilliant cause we finally get a good idea how good Eren was doing.

Shame there was no Annie vs Mikasa, but what I read and recalled:

Great action sequences and battle so far between Eren and the Armored Titan. I like how it also goes into the little details of revealing more of days when Eren was training. Only slight disappointment I had with that is they didn't show the end result of the fight between Mikasa and Annie.

At this point, I got used to the Colossal Titan CGI. What a cliffhanger!

- Annie's not there;
- He's already fought her;
- She didn't break the doors in Shiganshina.

The "harem antics"... What could have been if Annie wasn't a goddamn titan... Oh, well, there's always the middle school version.

Titan MMA Champions Series was pretty awesome this week. That ending should be counted as foul though.

Episode was really good! good animations, good dialogue etc.
Gotta admit, I'm never a fan of CGI but it wasn't terrible.
Also, I feel like the fight was longer in the manga, and Eren got beat up more(lol) but it's probably just me.

Anybody find it funny that Eren is oblivious to being popular with the ladies even Hange but she doesn't care of his manlet form though.

Mikasa being Yandere when Annie tried to make a move on Eren. Bereting herself not being Yandere enough to finish off Bert and Reiner.

Eren has slowly developed as a character as shown in this episode. We saw him cool his nerves and fight back effectively against a more experienced and arguably stronger opponent. I am somewhat left amazed that our hot-headed retard actually listened to Captain Levi's advise.

Pulling back to the flashback, Annie teaching Eren martial art moves is a bit peculiar. I am surprised no one thought of Annie's skill-set as a bit awkward, given the universe. On that note, why does Annie even need to know how to crush humans ? I suppose she grew in rough environment as we have seen criminals still roam around preying on weak people (remember that whole Mikasa mountain story). I think that is the main reason why her father thought her self-defense, from the information we have been given so far. I should also mention, the dialogue and frames portrayed Annie as tsundere which was funny. Eren recalling his training and drawing on his angry towards Reiner and Bertolt depicts how the mc thinks and is growing. The flashback was a good usage of time and relevant to showing the inner workings of Eren's continued tenacity.

The following fight scenes and adaption of strategies was brilliant. Reiner dropping armor for faster charges and Eren attempting to adjust to the tackles was depicted clearly and concisely. The grappling action in the end of the episode with the subtle animations had to be the highlight of the episode. It is quite impressive how Eren managed to get the upper-hand in what began as a decidedly one-sided battle. Well done Eren. Even Armin and Mikasa were like 'get teh fk outta here' and essentially telling him to pull an Annie (referring to the S1 end; the desperate fleeing scene).

The central figures in the episode were of-course Reiner and Eren; it was about these two strongly willed characters while everyone else was relegated to a supporting role. The direction in how they set the tone was through using wide, focused shots of the battle. These two stupendously strong shifting-Titans overshadowed the subtler framing for the rest of the cast. I'd also add that seeing the fight from multiple perspectives was really kool and helped the impressive experience.

Lastly, the unveiling of Reiner as the Armored Titan and Bertolt as the Colossal Titan is a bit underwhelming in the sense that too much of the lore revolves around the 104th Training Regiment. Before the revelation, there were many plausible theories as to who or what the Titans were and I honestly classed them into the Ape Titan category (i.e. that they weren't shifters). Furthermore, these figures were foreshadowed to be endgame players and the revelation so early in the manga/anime seems forced, perhaps by an editor.

Another major point of contention with unveiling of the AT n CT is the inconsistency in the lore. What I mean is that, in the pilot episode of S1, Eren & Co. were 10 year old children. How can we expect Reiner & Bertolt to travel hundreds of kilometers to Shigashima (w/e the town name was), expertly penetrate the Wall Maria, and covertly joined the Survey Corps.. it does not follow logic, both in their motivations and atmosphere of lore. We could of-course see this happening in shounens but here.. it is irritating to say the least, even with the granted qualification that someone mentioned that Reiner & Bertolt may be a few years old than Eren, Mikasa, etc.

The only real redemption here is that Reiner and his friend are actually baby-faced adults who disguised themselves as teenagers. It certainly is possible as both are of adult height and much taller than most of their supposed peers. The theory is also reinforced by the flashback we saw in Castle Utgard with Reiner & Bertolt, and they looked the same as they do now. There was also a peculiar statement from Bertolt that Reiner was half the Warrior then he was in the past (something along those lines), meaning.. that these two are actually experienced vets. I hope this is theory that comes out to being true or something close to it and not an Obito-esk asspull.

Close Combat

The second half for season two doesn't hold out delivering and angst dog fight full of suspense and vibrating emotions. As they say, music tells the story, and Sawano-sensei score accomplished a wonderful at transmitting the epicness of the showdown between the Attack titan and the Armored titan.

But, how would I wish sweet retribution enacted on the two traitors, but the results became too good to be true as the Attack titan deadlocked the Armored titan to struggle for the upper hand.

Eren's the hotheaded type that learns through trial and error.
Spoiler:

Funny thing was that precisely from reminiscing about the past with Annie lied what he learned from her and put the theory to practice in order to subdue the Armored titan.

The bad news was that for this bout Eren got too much full of himself believing that he got Reiner under the wraps forgetting entirely about Berthold's Colossal titan literally falling down on them at the episode's closing like fire brimstone raining down from the skies.
