Sf4 Dictator was a pretty decent character imo. His tools are just hard to pull off because he's a charge chatacter

He still looks the same to me except he has a way to deal with projectiles now besides the scissors kick and that his head stomp is an otg?

  • V-Trigger – A special move unique to each character that can turn the tide of the fight. You can only unleash these after you’ve filled the V-Gauge – and you do that by taking damage.
    Chun-Li’s makes her hits stronger.
Nash can quickly teleport behind or above his opponent for sneak attacks.
  • V-Skill – A defensive move that can be used during the fight.
Ryu’s allows him to parry incoming attacks with ease.
    M. Bison can reflect projectiles back at his opponent.
  • Critical Arts – Flashy, multi-hit moves that can devastate an opponent. They’re unlocked after you fill the EX Gauge, which is done by causing damage to your opponent.
  • New Stage – For the first time in Street Fighter, London is a stage. “King’s Cross Station,” specifically. And it has trombone-playing Queen’s Guard soldiers roaming about.

Fancy a trip to jolly ol' London? I like the new stage. A nice contrast to the dark Hong Kong stage. Visuals look better too.

So they're referring to Charlie by his last name now.

Stun gauge mechanic returning.

Not bad. I do wonder if some new stages coming in the future might in fact be stages from other games, rendered in the new engine and 'shot' from different angles...

Which would be rather inconsistent... unless this is a callback to different names being used on different sides of the Pac, in which case, it should be the player's choice which is used (there's no excuse for this not to be an option).

Again - looks nice and all, but they'd better have Classic and Shadow skins for Charlie/Nash, because mimicing Victor isn't working for the lad.

Lot of the mechanics seem to be mix of 3 and Alpha, this is interesting.

And Ultra being gone, I like that direction.

I thought it was just to show he's not quite the Charlie we knew from before.

Spoiler:

Note the new input for Hyakuretsukyaku and Nash is no longer a charge character.

Someone over at SRK posted an advanced system breakdown from someone at IGN who was playing.

-Throws have a wiff animation - This means two things: One, failed throw attempts leave you open to attack. Two, there is no more option select crouch tech, it just results in a failed throw and a bad situation!
-Backdashes don't have any hit invulnerability - They do have throw invulnerability though. Still, this makes wakeup backdash pretty much a non-option. Gone are the days where you can backdash to safety for free.
-Crush Counters - This is a new mechanic. Some moves, when they hit on counterhit, will cause a unique stun state that will allow for normally impossible follow-ups, kinda like Fatals in BlazBlue and Persona 4 Arena.
-Hard knockdowns are rare - I didn't test this exhaustively, but a Capcom employee told me that only throws and Critical Arts cause hard knockdowns. Wakeup times are faster in general, so you'll have to adjust your okizemi game accordingly.

(confirmed that there's no crouch tech OS in the game apparently)

I like the hard knockdown change, thinking about Ibuki...

Maybe the reason why damage's so beefy in this game compared to SF4's because of the lack of hard knockdowns? Part of me thinks this is great because standard stuff like poking and AAing has more power behind it. On the other, your health gets zapped real quick. Might get tweaked in future builds.

Throw teching and backdash invul nerf are welcome additions for me personally. V-Skills and Trigger seem more interesting than Ultras and Arts being tied into Super rather than being part of a separate meter like Ultras were are better IMO.

I noticed a quick rise when Chun threw Ryu in a video.

Dunno if they were quick rises or not (I know there's one rise where they do a pose after recovering, I'm guessing that's quick rise or something) but knockdowns from sweeps and throws are far, far shorter compared to SF4's.

People do say the game speed is faster because less hard knockdown, but the walk speed is slower.

I am just hoping Ryu, Charlie and Bison are the slower character, not the norm.

In lot of the matches there is lot of dashing, I wonder if Capcom wants to compensate slow walk speed with quick dash. But then dash really doesn't help with footsies.

Another thing, do you think if character like Juri, Abel or Gouekn are in SF4, they will have focus like ability for their V-skills?

Maybe.

I could see Juri's V-Skill being her teleport and her V-Trigger being Feng Shui Engine. Gouken's V-Skill being his counter, but I don't know what his V-Trigger could be. Maybe something to do with his fireballs? I don't know what Abel's skill or trigger would be either.
