The art is fine, but the backgrounds hurt my eyes.
Mahou Shoujo meets Kill la Kill?
It had its moments..
Definitely not my thing.
Skipping it.

How in the world did you make that association?

The art style isn't for everyone but personally I find it strangely pleasing. Superhuman from different kind of genres and eras are able to fit because of the very symbolic and abstract background. Jiro having '80s(or is it '70s?) design is also a personal hit as it does feels like a true hero.

The switching between different timelines is affecting the pacing but not a very serious problem. I think it serves the purpose of setting up direction of the show quite well, by showing the long term consequences and putting up a question of why did Jiro leave the Superhuman Bureau. The next question would be the plot, and would the pacing be better in later episodes.

Don't think I'm up for another hodgepodge Bones show this year. Noragami will do just fine.

The art style seems fun to me.

As for the plots, it's not bad, I actually is looking forward to it. (still better than some other series... lol)

Especially what other supercreatures there are.

Personally, this series reminds me of Gachaman + Powerrangers. What with the transformations, powerups, spectacular explosions when the bad guy gets defeated.

Currently there's Mahou shoujo, Ultraman, not sure what to call the other guys...

Not to mention there's the hints of romance and mystery as to what happened in the past with flashbacks. (this show will most likely be 80% flashbacks explaining about the main guy)

Yes, while hard to follow, it wasn't impossible and I was able to relatively understand what was going on. It could goo either way really. I'd give the first episode a 7/10.

Three episode rule it is.

Episode 2:

Well, I think this show is a lot of fun to watch including this week's episode.

I think Fuurouta made a nice little friend too.
Loved the energy poured into the episode and of course we get some action. The boss monster looks pretty wacky this week. Some of the story felt rushed given the length though.

Ep 2

This show continues to be absolutely tons of fun, it's one of my favorite series this season. It also continues to remind me of a "lighter" version of Darker than Black. I was surprised to like Fuurouta, he's genuinely charming, and the twist surprisingly dark. (So, uh, Fuurouta just kind of accidentally committed genocide. That's really awkward.)

The visuals and the music continue to be top notch, they're really giving this show a lot of attention, and it shows. I'm not sure it will be a commercial success but the quality is certainly there.

(Also, I know I'm really slow but I just made the connection between Hitoyoshi and Jirou from Kikaider...)

Episode 2
Yep. I am totally lost here. Each episode needs a re-watch in order to be understood properly. I have no idea where this is headed.

Fuurota is the focus here. He's a ghost who doesn't age and can shape shift. He saves a little bug. Meanwhile, a big black fog starts to engulf the city. But that's not the concern of the bureau since they're out to capture Fuurota so he doesn't cause trouble.

But it then turns out that the fog is caused by ginormous bugs. Bugs once roamed the earth just like dinosaurs did but a virus killed them all. The bureau's professor replicates that virus to kill the bugs again and Fuurota goes to deliver the virus. The bug men are now ded.

But it turns out that the little bug Fuurota saved was the queen of the overgrown insects and Fuurota just killed all her people or insects or whatever. So seven years later, she comes back for revenge. Jiro, who had escaped two years earlier, comes back to save Fuurota from the bug lady.

This time jumping business is making things really confusing here. So by the looks of it, they're showing different time periods of the future which are linked to the events currently happening. The last episode had Grosse Augen and Kikko in focus so the future scene also had them. This episode had Fuurota and Campe in focus so the future scene showed them.

Another bit is that Jiro and that pink haired lady are going out. And Kikko is super jealous. She joined the bureau partly because she wanted to be with Jiro who was her hero at that time. But now she can't leave just because Jiro is already taken. So she has to bear with it.

Despite being confusing as hell, this is still quite enjoyable. The next episode will have a detective superhuman or something. Will also have more jumping to the future.

It's only episode 2... We'll find out in time. Something has happened in between past and future, that ended with Jirou and the rest of the Bureau becoming enemies, and I'm sure it's going to be an important plot point.

I thought it was pretty obvious Jiro left because he was disillusioned with the Bureau since they weren't necessarily allies of justice.

The deal with Fuurota showed that they were willing to kill off an entire endangered race if they were in the way, and Fuurota bought into it because he assumed he was with the good guys.

Sure, but there has to be more to it. In the present (or past? whatever) Jirou knows what's really going on but he's still in there. In the future (or present? whatever) he's their enemy.

Whoever said that this was the type of show that you could watch with your brain turned off is a big fat liar. That said, the pieces are slowly starting to fall in place... we've already received hints that Jiro had been disagreeing with Bureau and was secretly disobeying them back in year 41. I wonder how long it'll be before the the others find out about his insubordination, which will inevitably result in him leaving the Bureau somewhere between years 41 and 46.

So Fuurouta accidentally committed genocide. That is really going to weigh on the kid's mind.

It is becoming apparent that Jiro left because he just couldn't agree with what the Bureau was doing after seeing it's true nature.

The black fog in this anime actually a reference from politic scandal in Japan during 1966 (Showa 41).

Ep 02

Oh ho? Interesting....

I kinda like what the series seems to be doing thus far, at least as far as I can make sense of it, but must admit that the non linear storytelling at times throws me off.

The series itself seems mildly interesting at the moment, and I am willing to stick with it for now, methinks.

Thanks for pointing that.

Indeed I like this show, it's engaging and nicely written story of character having their morality and values challenged. Accidental genocide of species, which earlier lost home thanks to political manipulation, by honest good-hearted ghost kid.

Well, time jumping is a little challeging, this week it was a little harder, but I like it.
So now my altitude towards it looks like:

Challenge Accepted

I think this show is quite interesting but I really hate the back and forth of the past and present scenes.
