Just finish watching the raw and I have to say, it's one great episode for You fans.
As expected, You has noticed that Chika and Riko's grown friendship has left You feeling rather left out. However, what's rather smart about this episode is that it doesn't get too heavy on the drama, and that for once the other girls, Mari and Riko, talked to You about her feelings on all of this. Mind you it seems that Chika has always seen You as an irreplaceable friend despite her fawning over Riko often but her lack of tact sometimes does make me wish You would just slap Chika, but then that will turn into that crazy drama mess from S1 OG. On a more humourous note, You knows how to defend herself against washi-washi attacks by flinging Mari over her shoulders. You go girl! It seems that Kabe-doning is a thing with this series. And You in the Uchicchii costume was a great shout-out to the Koi Naritai PV. Now to wait for the subs from where I am. PS You with glasses is HNNGGG!!!

Well, Riko did accept the invitation in the end! Of course, that doesn't stop Chika from getting worried about her, which makes You-chan very jealous!
But hey, at least You's problem was resolved after talking it out with Chika-chan! Of course, I'm worried about the result... |

Ahaha, its a YouSOLO ED this week. KILL ME
Guess I can properly move You up the rankings now, but she'll never take 1st and 2nd from ChikaRiko. What made me happy was that You's jealousy was resolved over talking with Mari and Riko, rather than Chika. Yes, Chika might be happier with Riko because they bond better, but You will always be that special friend that Chika can't replace. *Special friendzoned that is Dia is probably going to maintain her #3 spot purely based on the fact that her idea of special training is having everyone clean the pool because she forgot to do it herself Mari might overtake Maru at #5 for me because she is really perceptive of how others feel. (You know, except for Kanan and Dia ) I don't know what else to talk about this episode. Riko finally got over her anxiety and Aqours as a whole had a great song at the end of the episode! That's about it really. Everyone else can get into long TL;DRish character analysis if they want to. Edit: Hm, does this mean You wears contacts like Hanayo does outside of home?

The moment Riko leaves with You looking at Chika is when you know exactly what's going to happen, but it makes it all the more painful. This episode tugs the heart strings something fierce without pulling all the way, walking a fine line between character focus and said character's lack of presence from previous episodes. What's unexpected is how perfectly it does in one episode what many shows can barely manage in a few episodes, illustrating misunderstanding and realization with a masterful underlying tension while also resolving itself wonderfully
We see Chika's pain of missing Riko through all of her actions. We see You realizing she won't be Chika's Riko as a relationship nor as a dance partner (the move to have You be Chika's practice partner is brilliant). We see Mari learning from her past mistakes. And we see Riko effectively saving You from dwelling on it any longer. Through all of this the episode still runs the emotional gauntlet of melancholy, humor, and inspiration with a sense of maturity and respect I didn't know I wanted this episode but it's beautiful AF

8/10 base score on the general content of the episode
+ 1 for truly excellent visuals - 1 for certain bits seeming overly cheesy to me + 1 for having the boldness to have Riko follow through on the piano recital (and have Aqours perform without her) + 1 for a very good live performance = Sunshine's first 10/10 episode for me. It's a close call, and for me it's achieving it through technical merit more than anything else, but it deserves it. I'll probably write more about the episode later on.

Legit was crying this whole episode.
There's plenty of things I can say to rain on this parade, but I'm not feeling it :'D The talk Mari had with You makes me happy but a little sad that Guilty Kiss is composed of Mari, Yohane, and Riko rather than Mari, Yohane, and You. This is what happens when you let people vote before seeing any kind of relationship between the characters. Also, anyone know who sings the ending this episode? |

Streamed for the first time in years to watch this episode. The things you do for love (live).
But it was well worth it. I fuckin love You so much. Once Riko came into into the equation, I knew this was gonna happen. It's a real and relatable situation. The pep talk Mari had with You was perfect given her past experiences. You's CQC was also awesome. Chika and Riko being such good bros and You realizing that her jealousy was a product of how she perceived herself and the other two was well-handled. No bullshit. And to top it all off, we get a goddamn performance. Well, two performances to be technical. I really liked the duality between Riko's recital and the performance. The glitter and piano gestures were in full effect. The absolute cherry on the top of the 11-layer cake that was this episode was when Riko held out her hand to the audience and when Aquors held out their clenched fists. The cool levels were off the chart for me. You's solo ED was a banger as well. And I laughed at Chika's wallpaper pic for Riko. |

I just hope this means we've finally gotten our second year trio, because we're 2 weeks away from the final episode and I'm really tired of seeing You get left out by Chika and RIko. Compare the first and third years' interactions within their respective trios to the second years, there's a massive difference.
