Same here lol.
What is it even doing there? Other than that, just love the human conflict in the king. So good. He was like "i can kill her when i want" then he sees the hawk attacking her, and he defends her so quickly. All this conflict because King doesn't understand he's a lolicon.

That did seem like a ridiculously random eagle attack. I mean yeah sure we saw one in the vicinity during the King's freakout, but would one really fly in just to attack a person? No matter how small Komugi is you aren't carrying that back to the nest . Seemed really random, but for the need to show the King's development so it worked.

In the end did need something to help create a dramatic realization for the King, but you could have had literally anything attacking the girl and it would have been just as random. For some reason living ice cream cones attacking Komugi comes to mind .

I do agree that the eagle is pretty random. But the thing is, if I remembered correctly, in the manga it's not exactly an eagle, it was an eagle-sized black bird attacking Komugi. So I assumed it's a Hunter x Hunter world's bird of prey who got riled up by the King's violent Nen or something. And the weakest prey in the whole palace is probably Komugi.

Crying moe girls are the last line of defense against the King's rampage! Is brute force truly the means to the end, or is there more to it. It just kinda shows we always want more things than we already have and even with all the power in the world, the Ant King sees something he cannot have and it's just killing him. It does seem like the unattainable is quite the thing to obsess over.
Meanwhile, Mr. Sparkly Violin Tears guy is pretty annoyed he's been ignored as he's not as intresting as Neferpitou and Komugi has the king's intention. Chances are he's going to go yandere soon. And as the Hunter team prepares, the King ponders "Who am I?" Great episode as usual.

I suppose if you think about, the eagle doesn't make much sense but I still thought it was a hilarious twist for Mel's character (and in an episode that already had two hilarious twists). I can't imagine it's a coincidence that almost every line Komugi and him were giving seemed something out of an awkward high school romance.
