Pleasant surprise. I really didn’t see this coming even though I probably should have. It’s popular after all. They even made a Korean Drama version back in 2011, didn’t they?

Now the question is, will this movie continue the story from the 90s anime? I hope so.

There is plenty of material from the manga left to adapt, but my guess is that it'll be an original story like the previous movies. One that could fit anywhere in the timeline.

I'm a big City Hunter fan, so definitely looking forward to this.

If so, I just hope there won't be any technological hiccup in this newest entry. It wouldn't be funny if Ryo or Kaori suddenly whip out a smartphone and social media is popping out at some point in the movie .

Is it worth watching the anime or should I jump to the movies?

Watch the anime. Its a nice blend of action and comedy with a chivalry pervert as hero.

The anime is definitely worth watching. And so are the movies, by the way. I would recommend watching everything.

The manga is the best, but I don't think it's ever been fully translated in english.

In Spain we have like 30 volumes published, but it was discontinued twice and I have lost all hope to see it complete... and that's true for Angel Heart too

I would highly recommend the anime. It has one of the best anime episodes of all time for me

That's something I haven't though either. It would be really strange, because the whole show has this 80s feeling...

The idea came to me quite naturally since I already witnessed that kind of tech-hiccup happened several times before to old animanga which continued into the millenium era like Garasu no Kamen, Kochikame, Detective Conan and recently the new Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card-hen. Characters who used to live in the 70s/80s/90s now have smartphones without aging much (if at all) and their worlds also turn closer to IRL during their actual release/airing date .

I wonder if the City Hunter movie might attempt to reference its live action adaptations. The 1993 Jackie Chan version with its live Street Fighter segment could fit with the source's goofiness. (+ Jackie Chan cosplay as Chun Li).

Not sure about the South Korean version though - I heard that was retooled as a gritty action-revenge-drama type of show.

I don't even care what the story is or how good or bad it will be. It's City Hunter and I'm totally in!

Oh.My.God.

The feels when I heard the first notes of Get Wild at the beginning of the trailer, man! I really want to see that movie.
