Prisma Illya is F/SN spin off take setting in alternate universe, ones of reason why people could swallow Illya because the Prillya has the plot, a serious story like her predecessor unlike Magical Girl Onodera story.
Most people underwhelmed the spin off because Mikan story most likely will take in same setting as TLRD world which mean there are nothing to expect here.
That to being said if Mikan spin off take setting in alternative universe i might will give it a small chance.

Plus F/SN is a well written storyline and one of the best storyline's in the anime universe. Most of the people who pay attention to TLR do it for the Artist. The writing is crap

It'll probably still sell anyway. The main draw was the art, not the story.
