One day mysterious holes began appearing in the world. Those holes led to dungeons where unknown materials, minerals and monsters resided. Humans tried to close the holes fearing the danger of it. However with no success, the holes continued to spread all over the world. Humans chose to live with the holes. A new job appeared for people to explore those dungeons and take home resources, that new job is adventurer.

After some time passed, the existence of dungeons has completely become part of daily life and people began to get born with abnormal strength, magical powers to fight within dungeons.

The story is about Shion deciding to enroll in an adventurer school and then being thrown into various events. Shion has one of the worst personalities you can find out there, however because he's a huge narcissist and wants to make himself look great, he always acts like a splendid hard working young man. He never takes off that mask even if he's alone. And thus, everyone views him as his fake self.

When first enrolling into the school, Shion was rolled into an accident. There he met a humongous white snake that was severely wounded. In a desperate attempt to survive, the snake decided to attach itself onto Shion like a parasite.

The snake would later come to say that their meeting was fate. Not a metaphor or anything, it truly was fate.

Often in novels you have bad guys here and there but most of them follow some sort of standards or shows a gentle side here and there or has some deep circumstances making them evil.

There's none of that crap here. None. Nada. Shion's true personality is pretty much like that random mob villain you often find in the streets. There's nothing to justify him, he's purely just a terrible, selfish person.

His general personality is... He likes people who had a miserable life or is currently suffering. Because he can laugh at them. He feels extreme envy for everyone for one reason or another, be it that they're talented or that they're rich. All of those people can go die in his eyes. Also an ultimate narcissist that genuinely believes he's above the world.

What differs him from the random mob villain is that he's a perfect actor, merciless strategist and extremely sharp at reading people. This allows him to act like a good guy and read the situation to always act accordingly and obtaining more positive reputation. In short, he's a wonderful saint in the eyes of others. After all he always takes actions that touches the heartstrings of people.

He knows that the personality he made up causes him to get things like yanderes on his back or get dragged into messes he doesn't give a shit about but he still continues his lies because he values his fame more than his life. So yep, it's pretty much "you reap what you sow".

Q. ORE TUEEE?

It's essentially an ORE YOEEE story. He is surrounded by strong people and he essentially serves as the brains of the party. There's some fine details though that you'll find out in time if you read it.

There is romance on the surface, however as Shion only loves himself, generally speaking he's only acting out the role of his fake personality and would much rather have the women die. To begin with, no one (except the snake) even knows about his true personality so there's not much to work on. It doesn't help that his harem is full of crazy women that you'd much rather not get involved with.

However as a general flow of events, a harem of yanderes is established and yes, despite everything, Shion does (involuntarily) get in bed with all of them. And it seems it happens quite often (though generally off screen) after that.

In the IF(TRUE?) ending the snake appears in front of Shion as a white haired, snake eyed loli. She can freely enter and leave his body. As she's the only one who knows Shion's real self and can listen to his grumbles, she practically claims the position as the main heroine at the very very end.

They're always shown in his thoughts. However Shion only acts according to his thoughts if he has a proper justification to make him look like a good guy. (e.g. mentally abusing or even breaking someone and then making it seem like it was a whip of love when he really just wanted to look at their miserable face).

This is seriously good, and yep; all of Shion's selfish monologues and horrible personality is completely shown to the reader; his monolgues usually go between ( ) while what he says is layered like normal text; it's like seeing a movie with the best type of subtitles you can imagine

BTW, the guy's cellphone is one of the funiest things in the series, since he has bookmarked the characters as how he calls them internally


Let's review a little bit about the girls?

Tenma : Bokumusume that dresses as a man and talks in boyish tone, but doesn't hide her female gender (though most people don't know since they don't follow her to the female bathroom nor ask "you have tits?"). She is a battle maniac with pseudo suiciadal tendences.
The MC eases some of her deepest worries early on, which makes her go yandere for him.

Shiori : A yamato nadesico oujou-sama, looks gentle, polite and perfect on the outside and at first she is pretty nice on the inside to boot; but deep down there are some ready to bloom seeds of a maniacal yandere stalker.
At one point of the story, her life changes drastically and the mc becomes her pillar of support with the intention of getting her to do whatever he needs; which of course makes her go yandere for him.

Irene : A foreigner beauty, she is evaluated as a top class world talent within the adventurer field and performance wise she is basically a monster. Has a pretty fair and cool personality due to admiring hero stories, specially a particular one about overcoming harshness from her country.
The MC uses her love for hero tales to fulfill one of her inner dreams and wins a duel over her; teaching her the value of defeat (she kisses him as a reward), which makes her go yandere for him. See the pattern yet?

Alice : Legal loli (disease which hampers aging) with foreigner looks and that it's obviously inspired on Alice in wonderland. She has lived a pretty desolate life due to many circumnstances and thus has a pretty crazy ass sh!t personality, trusting only dolls.
The MC makes her regain contact with her humanity, which of course makes her go yandere for him.

Took time because of work (with 10k characters on average per chapter I can only read a few before sleep when I work), but finally finished the first part.
I have to say it's a rather interesting work. I don't like Shion as a person, but find him amazing and love him as a character. (the main downside to me is how one way the relationships are, I don't really like how everyone loves him but he hates them)

First part ends in an interesting way, so I wonder what's coming next.

Also, a shame it was licensed by red something label (same as makai kaeri) which died. Really want to have some illustrations.
