I hope Mai-Otomoe Zwei will explain more about Asward's past. Who they were before they became cyborgs and what relationship they have with Yohko. I would like to see more screentime of them and see them fight more. It would also be nice if they could somehow uncover some new techonology to bring back Lumen to life. The way he was killed in the anime was really lame and there was really no point in killing him. He was quite a interesting, cool and amusing character.

They said July, and nothing so far. Aren't the television schedules posted a week or two weeks in advance in Japan? How could it be that its going to air shortly and we don't know about it?

We still don't know where it said July. So far, all we know for certain is that it will be broadcasted in the fall of 2006. Fall could mean any time between July to October. I believe the fall lineup of anime usually starts in October right?

Some of you might misunderstand OVA/OAV.

If they air OVA on TV, it'll be much later after DVD release, I think a few yeas later or never.

Incorrect.

Just like the recent Gundam OVAs, the Diebuster OVAs, the Dokuro-chan OVAs, and the Hellsing OVAs, the TV version is always released a few weeks before the DVD release.

The purpose of the TV release is to act as advertising for the OVAs. Why? Because it costs money to screen anime on television in Japan, instead of the West where cartoon makers get paid to have their shows on air.

(sometimes the on-air version has less content, to give incentive to buy the DVD. But usually there isn't much difference.)

As a general rule, they lose money by putting it on air, then recuperate the cost via boosted DVD and merchandise sales. This doesn't happen for just OVAs, but TV series as well.

Of course, there are OVAs aired on TV before DVD release, as you said. But there are also a lot of OVAs that are released only with DVD, for example Ah! My Goddess episode 25 and 26 of the first TV series, School Rumble 一学期補習 and Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid わりとヒマな戦隊長の一日, and I think that it is an exceptional case to air an OVA on TV before DVD release.

In the case of Mai-HiME projects, I think it has a tendency of reduction.

The first Mai-HiME project: Mai-HiME
  • 26 episode TV series, broadcasting stations: TV Tokyo, TV Kyusyu, TV Aichi, TV Osaka, TV Hokkaido, TV Setouchi and AT-X
  • Manga(5 volumes)
  • 2 Novels
  • 4 Artbooks(Idol book, 2 anime books, destiny princess)
  • CDs(2 OSTs, 2 character song albums, 3 character CD singles(Mai, Mikoto and Natsuki), 2 drama CDs, Best Album, Game OST)
  • PC Fan Disks(6 volumes)
  • Games(PS2, PC and 2 PSP games)

The second Mai-HiME project: Mai-Otome
  • 26 episode TV series, broadcanting stations: TV Tokyo, TV Aichi, TV Osaka and AT-X
  • Manga(5 volumes)
  • 2 Artbooks(Schoop book, Perfect Guide)
  • CDs(2 OSTs, 2 drama CDs, radio drama CD, Best Album)
  • Game(PS2)

The third Mai-HiME project: Mai-Otome Zwei
  • 4 OVAs
  • ?

And DVD sales don't descend so much between Mai-HiME and Mai-Otome.

23 舞HiME 9 *7,201 05.09.23 4日 .** 舞乙 9 **,*** 06.09.** *日

So I don't think Sunrise advertise Mai-Otome Zwei by airing on TV in advance to cost much money. Sunrise seems to make money from existing Mai-HiME/Otome fans and doesn't seems to eagerly develop new fans. But who knows.

Hum For the Numbers
Maybe we can wait for the result of DVD9...
Number of Sale for DVD 4 of Mai Otome are Better... But not really amazing for the rest

It's not because for the 2 Gundam Films than Mai Otome Zwei is late?

From what I've gathered so far, I'm guessing that Zwei team hit a very debilitating snag late in the production of the OVAs.

It's the only explanation for the complete lack of OFFICIAL information so far... The ANN summary is still completely unverified.

I just remember something... Nao dress on Pillar Otome on 26th Episode
That this can be found of the Official Site...

Nao must wear this On Mai otome Zwei... Just a detail of something :/

But I just remember something
If Nao became Pillar, What became the Back Stage and their members?

Huh? I don't think Nao had anything (directly) to do with Backstage. She's the leader of The Stripes Gang, and she probably has them to the dirty work a Column isn't expected to do.
