In the SS arc when he tells Rukia his reasoning, I think he said he swore on his PARENTS grave to obey the rules so yeah, I think both parents have died.

The databook doesn't look terribly interesting, but it does have some cool tidbits about the manga and it's creation process (or lack of ). ofc, the full translation might reveal some more.

Totally agree...in those pages there should be more info about the characters that mean something...names are nice, and past VCs....but thats just it, names and more characters thats pretty much irrelevant for now(and probably forever).

Also Im glad he defined how the Espada are ranked...theyre ranked by greater reiatsu rather than say (killing?) ability I guess. Hopefully Kubo will one day actually point out things like whether Uliqu R2 should be ranked higher than than Esapda #1 or even Espada #3.

That was the main thing I was hoping for from this data book, but since this one only goes up to volume 37, I guess that will have to wait for the next book, which will hopefully come out in a more timely manner than this one.

Unfortunately, knowing Kubo, he'll just pull out another group of powerful enemies for Ichigo to fight through (perhaps the Royal Guard) and for fanfiction writers to fantasise about.

umm...that was the 'beloved' 11th division captain to ichinose??? he freakin looks like dong zhou from dynasty warriors 6...

if zaraki beat him with ease would mean he would be relatively weak considering at that time zaraki didn't know kendo and the fact that some current characters have at least managed to give him some sort of fight. there's been a lot of 11th division captains though so some could've either quit or moved to zero division
