My guess is that Scout was used to replace the MC cause he's the one character in the TF2 cast closest to a teenager. Dunno if that's the actual reason though.

I'm under the impression the Japanese like to talk a lot on those approches while the American would have had maybe two to three lines of closing banter and the rest in personal combat. Dubbing the Japanese makes it seem weird in this case..but also that the readers aren't very good at acting.
