Yea, and it was frikkin' obvious. Can't just bring up any ole' swash-buckler. For all you know, he'd just screw up the ship on purpose.

On this issue of trust...
The thing about the Yacht club is, while Marika probably trusts them personally, (the odds of them selling her out, or starting a mutiny are really low) I bet she has serious misgivings about their ability to operate a highly modified, non-standard FTL spaceship. The Ordette II isn't a standard ship by any means, but its peculiarities are known well to the club, and I bet there are many major operational difference between a solar sail ship, and a ship capable of FTL travel. I think that's why Marika said 'No way...' when Chiaki brought up the Yacht Club. If she was truly surprised by the suggestion, we'd gotten the more standard 'Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh?!?!' |

Bodacious Space Pirates's is not the first Sci-Fi to use cadets as it's starship replacement crew i.e. Star Trek's USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) and USS Valiant (NCC-74210). --- Mini-skirts in space reminds me of Star Trek's The Original Series... |

To be fair, that princess, while not actively trying to kill the Bentenmaru, was in armed conflict with them. But once she met Marika, and after some hot late night action (the sparks did fly, let me tell you) she too fell under the charms of Marika and her awesome hair.
