In one of those strips Kyon bukakkes all over Haruhi. This is decidedly tamer than that, and more entertaining IMO.

Although people are free to like and hate whoever and whatever they please, there's still plenty of reasons Asakura has fans besides her looks:

- she's an interesting deconstruction of a mary sue, for one. At first she is that stereotypical perfect, caring, super smart, super popular girl, but all that gets subverted when her true nature is revealed.
- she's the first, and for the longest time, only real solid example of an antagonist in the series
- regardless of whether or not the attack on Kyon was stagged, it proved to him that there was something supernatural going on. Before that, there was no definitive proof that Nagato, Asahina, and Koizumi weren't just crazy, or pulling an elaborate joke on him. Asakura's attack and her fight with Yuki though were undeniable proof.
- the aforementioned fight was, for lack of a better term, brain meltingly awesome and badass

Of course, there's reasons why people don't like her that are just as legitimate
- first and foremost, trying to kill one of the most popular members of the cast probably didn't get a lot of people on her side
- she doesn't get a whole lot of characterization, and what she does get isn't exactly super endearing. Even her death is a mystery: is she still around as part of the IDTE, or if she's been permanently deleted.

Anyways, that's a whole lot of blathering that most people doubtless really didn't come to this thread to hear, so, as an apology:
