(L) Rosario+Vampire Manga

Well, had a busy weekend, and having some computer problems as well which'll slow the entire project down no doubt, but got round to taking the first tentative steps into the adaptation this evening. I'm going on the working title of Rosario and Vampire: Vampire Dawn right now.

Tsukune Aono sat glumly staring out the window.

He had never been anything more than a mediocre student and amidst the high-flyers who had studied alongside him, aspiring to become Doctors, Teachers and other such professionals, he had always seemed inordinately average. That having been said, he had never once expected the sight adorned across the paperwork laying face down in front of him.

'Aono! Hey you! Wake-up!' , cried a foppish-haired classmate sitting two desks across from him, surrounded by few other class delinquents, 'if you keep staring out of window everyone will know you failed!'

The group burst into laughter, chanting his name and pointing in his direction.

Tsukune shuffled uncomfortably but continued staring out the window, a faint touch of melancholy displaying across his features if one was to look close enough. No one bothered; the rest of his class carried on as though he wasn't present and Tsukune himself certainly had never warranted enough attention to make friends, or even acquaintances, with most of them. The few friends he had made had already left for the afternoon, making a beeline for the local shopping arcade to grab drinks, food and celebrate their hard-won success in the High School entrance exams. Tsukune had politely declined to attend, barely able to admit his failure to himself, let alone willing to admit it to those around him.

The group of bullies continued staring at him in the hope he would respond actively, but one by one they began to look away in search of other more entertaining targets.
'How did I manage to end up this way?', he thought to himself, 'my chances to get into high school were already weak with the average grades of most of the people around here. With this performance, I can't see any school for miles accepting me!'

With a sigh of resignation, Tsukune got to his feet, stuffed the paperwork on his desk into his bag and trudged straight out the doorway.

The several-mile walk home seemed longer, and duller than it had ever done before, as though the entire world had turned an ugly shade of grey that beckoned to you with a silent appeal to ignore it. Despite the freshly cut grass, and the blossoms on the trees, Tsukune could find no solace on the throws of Spring. As the world around him surged with life and excitement, Tsukune was finding it a struggle enough just to take another step, to shield his eyes from the mid afternoon sun and to slowly massage the corner of his temples in a vain attempt to relieve the slowly building feeling of stress that was overcoming him.
His parents had never been the sort to hold ridiculous expectations, nor to berate him mindlessly should he not perform quite as well as they had hoped, however they had always held a certain level of which they would expect no less. Performing well enough to get into High School was one such immovable expectation, and one which they had been more and more enthusiastic to remind him of as his results over the past year had come in.
He groaned slightly as he pictured their reaction to the final exam result paperwork stashed in his bag.

'What have you been playing at, with these results did you expect to get anywhere?'
'Are you our son, or a plain waste of space?'
'Has every moment we spent with you trying to ensure that you would be a success been pointless?'
'We're very disappointed in you...'

As Tsukune turned the final corner, and his house came into view, his heart lurched as he saw his father's car parked outside. Usually he wouldn't be back from work 'til late, and he had been hoping to avoid him for the evening.
His dull steps quickened into a brisk walk, before rapidly becoming a fully fledged jog as the final metres disintegrated beneath his feet. The only thought crossing his mind now was to make it to the relative safety of his room, throw on some music and headphones, and try to prepare for whatever was going to come.
Reaching forward for door, his heart leapt into his mouth, somewhere inside his head screaming for him to just turn away, to just curl up and hide. Still, for all his many faults, Tsukune was no coward and he grabbed the metal handle gingerly and slowly began to open it. Despite feeling as though it was made from some amazingly heavy metal, he finally succeeded in opening the lock, and slowly shifting his weight, he pushed the door open and took a step inside.

'Surprise!!'

Tsukune jumped and then froze, his eyes having not yet adjusted to the light inside the house, he couldn't see much, let alone the source of the cry, but he instantly recognised the voice of his father and mother. Looking downwards, he slowly reached for his bag, before glancing upwards and noticing the 'Congratulations!' banners hung from the light, and the big smiles upon his family's face.

Before he could even open his mouth to, his mother stepped forward.

'Great news, Tsukune! Your father has managed to obtain you a unconditional offer of a place at a prestigious boarding Academy, thanks to a business deal he was a part of recently! He only just heard back today.', she started excitedly.
'It sounds like there was an incident at the school approximately a decade ago, which dented the school's prestige and the number of applications they get each year. Thanks to that they are desperate to boost numbers and are been willing to take on people much more leniently than usual, even though their records suggest they tend to get great results! We're so excited for you, especially as we know you were worried about your exams.'

Tsukune gingerly rubbed his eyes and face before looking into the beaming face of his parents. A smile slowly crept onto his face as he stepped forward towards them, his entire being filling with sense of relief.
'I'm going to be able to lead a normal high school life!', he thought happily to himself.

Hahahah! i just saw a Dante(DMC) vs Inner moka.... Really people?... she wouldn't stand a chance in hell XD none of the Rosario+Vampire cast would. kurumu would try to win by other means but dante would just shrug it off

then the same person does a Sparta(Dantes dad) vs Moka's mom.. same result

Not really, we have all been used to waiting for raws of the chapter to come out on the 3rd which is a month, if 21st of each month is the new release for the raws than it's still the equivalent of waiting a month, but if the time of waiting is extended or not will be understandable considering what has happened...

Um... me thinks you missed the memo. It said that we'll get a double release this month; i.e. we'll get one chapter to cover two months on the 21st of this month. After that, it's back to June 3rd and regular schedule

Ah yes i forgot about that, thanks for reminding me lol, sorry my memory is a bit hazy...

Oh well, a month and a half until June 3rd isn't to bad, besides at least we get a chapter that covers both April and May

Moka yeah i get that not a real old or experienced vampire in truth shes a big fish in a little pond called yokai academy.

Akasha on the other hand does indeed stand a chance against sparda her blows are powerful enough to nullify high level regeneration plus she regenerated from not only being split in half but being split i half by a dimensional strike like does of the yamato.

and yes i played and own all dmc games the exception might be the new one and watched every form of media they got i stand by what i say

I am not sure if the release date has been affected by the Tsunami or not, but according to Amazon.jp Volume 9 comes out May 2nd.

Funny you should mention that, because Kurumu hasn't either. Ruby, Yukari and even freakin Gin and Sun got their own cover, as well as the Wongs and Akua, not to mention Kokoa. Ura-Moka got her's, but that was understandable since it was the beginning of the series.

Two complaints, though they're just me being nit-picky:

One... you seem to put too much detail into Tsukune's trip home. Yes, I know that for him it does seem to be extremely disappointing, but you make it sound like he's almost about to face the end of the world. While I don't have any real suggestions, I think you could make it a bit less dramatic.

My other complaint: when getting accepted into Youkai Academy, so far (until we're told otherwise) it seems like it was by pure coincidence. I think that was part of the appeal to this stroy in the first place... that an average middle-schooler gets into this kind of high school by pure coincidence. By adding in that business deal, you make it seem like him going to Youkai Academy was all pre-arranged... something that takes away the novelty of him going to Youkai Academy

eh they dont have to show nips, a nice lacy sexy bra is good too. better actually.. I always found revealing clothes better than naked a few times. unless its a bath scene and they put on a imaginary outfit when their actually naked (tenchimuyo*cough*)

What i mean is, the part where they put on a bra for Kurumu as a result of censoring can actually be be sexier than her bare naked chest itself

Thanks for your feedback, I haven't done any proper writing for a long time (perhaps 5+ years) so its good to know it doesn't read appallingly at the very least. I think I spent half the time trying to remember basic grammar as much as I did what I was writing

1)The dramatisation of the 'long walk home' so to speak was deliberate. As I understand passing the high school exams is quite a big thing in Japan, and I wanted it to contrast with the...somewhat ironic ending of the prologue.
I might revise it however, this is still very early days and revisions and rewrites to make things 'feel'/flow better certainly aren't out of the question. It also gels with the slightly incredulous attitude Tsukune shows at the very beginning of the manga.

Putting myself in Tsukune's position, most kids aren't too bothered if they don't do that well in exams, especially if they feel outmatched, but to totally fail can still be a fairly crushing experience. Having to explain that to your parents would be no pleasant feat for even the most confident teen.

2) That's a fair point.
I lost the first chunk I had written due to a computer freeze [which is what the laptop is going in for over the next few days], and was quite tired, whilst trying to regain lost ground. A few minor revisions should retain the overall flow, whilst altering the exact circumstances enough to sort this out

The intention is to write this in a manner that won't upset the majority of this series' fanbase, so I think point 2 is definately worth me looking at, as its something that slipped my mind slightly.

That section is really intended as a prologue, when I next get a chance to carry on writing, I'll be moving into the first couple of chapters of the manga itself

While reading volume 4 today, it dawned on me why Ikeda has been drawing shorter chapters of late.

He is now putting 5 chapters per volume instead of the 4 that were in R+V and the first three volumes of Season II

more chapters means shorter page count or the cost will rise too much.

Similarly to why Oda reduced the chapters in One Piece Tanks from 11 to ten.
