Maybe if Bandai released the Gunpla for Leo!

And Bandai should stay true to their actual product and portray the SEED HGs as the non-proportionate thick thighs, stubby limbs and overall disappointing HGs they are. Just hoping noone used an MG Goku in this series.

PS: There is an old 1/144 model kit of Leo: http://www.hlj.com/product/ban55152/Gun

That would be a pain to animate though lol, and dont forget plenty of people who are into the serious competition (even then this can apply to the non serious competitors who just like to build) in this show have to build the kits well (to complement their piloting skils....lol this sounded dumb while typing......), so its natural that they're modded/upgraded

Are you saying there isn't one?

Aren't they using the term Fighter? So, fighting skill? (That ... sounds even worse.)

With that said, I'm really loving the premise of this. It provides the perfect set-up for Gundam cross-over battles to take place while having sort of a Yu-Gi-Oh vibe to it. It also doesn't seem to be a Gundam series that's going to become plot driven by tons of politics. It comes off as just a nice simple shonen based series with well animated battles and some awesome music to top it off.

It's great so far. Just a quick question though. I obviously don't follow the Gundam series very much. So if some of these Gundam series over the years are tied together through some sort of canon timeline, does this particular Gundam series also occur in this canon timeline? And if so, does that mean we can only look forward to seeing Gundam's from certain series? (In other words, no G Gundams). I ask because the way the main protagonist talked about Wing Zero's backstory gave me the impression that it actually existed at one time within this universes history.
All the Gundam series are separate and have their own stories. Excluding UC-timeline series such as Gundam Unicorn, which links with Char's counterattack, ZZ, Z, original.

This series is pretty much like a third-party view where it is in a setting where the previous gundam anime have existed for them like us, where they build the models from the gundam anime series (Ex. 00, SEED, G, X, V, W)

Basically you could say it takes place in our modern world except they got this technology that allows Gundam Models to come to life and fight.

I could see it now. The Plavsky? particle is further researched by the military and used to create real-life mobile weapons. And Reiji will turn out to be a secret experimental pilot designed to control the real thing.

But of course, we'll save that for the sequel.

Isn't being a NewType and entering these competitions kind of like cheating?

Only the UC gundams share a time line (aside from obvious sequels or tie in movies). This is clearly taking gundams from all of them so you could see G stuff (didnt notice any yet though).

See if he had shown up to do something that mattered or even fit like if you saw a cameo of him in his gouf (ok kinda hard for this series setting) in the middle of a battle, I'd be all over that. Him showing up and oogle'ing Iori's mom 'just cuz', yeah I think its just lame fan service, the same as some convenient anime wind that flips up a skirt.

Now that I do agree with and is why I checked this out in the first place.

Personally, I found the episode to be alright minus the tournament opener. The Reiji part in the story felt a weird, but bearable to say the least. The tournament opener felt a little random. As for the at the battles, they are ended way too quickly and there isn't any diversity in the battle being fought. It also lacks the combat feeling of actual combat for the part that epitomize the gunpla tournament. At least it should have been more intense to demonstrate gunpla conflict and battles swing back and forth way more. That is the only part I have problem with.

That's not a tournament opener, that's actually the commercial for the tourney.

thanks for clarifying.

Well, that makes the commercial failure even worse.

Not sure which part of it as failure, seeing it actually makes people pumped up for the show when it was first shown (PV1).

It would be boring if Gundams were killing all mass production MS, which is why there are scenes where Freedom gets easily owned =w=

Well, it was better than I thought it would be. I'll be interested to see how the show runs up compared to Danball Senki given that the basic concept of the show is the same (kids battling with model mechas).

Actually, there's the Lumber Gundam (from G Gundam) fighting Eagail (from Turn-A Gundam) during the tournamnet promotional piece :

Spoiler for Episode 1:

Still, this idea isn't new to most of the viewers. If only the characters from Plamo Kyoshiro and Gunpla Builders would make an appearance...
