Ah....how I've missed this series.....so good to have the third season. Looks like it's going to be serious again as this demons are back in episode 1 and our intrepid heroes almost bit the dust right off the bat. I'm impressed that this series only needed one episode to suck me back in, I'll be along for the ride.

Ep 01
Quite a different beginning to an ep than usual - a unexpected failed summoning for Cinque and Nanami because of a lightning strike in London when they were being transferred. Cinque and Nanami certainly had their hands full for a while there until they came across Sharu (new character!) whose "pet attendant" was able to help them find their bags (which had their respective rings/"swords"). Let's see ... the dragon eaters reminded me of the demons from the Ghibli film Priness Mononoke in terms of physial look and dissolving slime/miasma. The OP was my fave of the three seasons, though the ED song was nice the chibi visuals were not really my cup of tea. Anyhoo - as expected, not earthshaking or deep, but light hearted and enjoyable. Insta followed for me. ^^

Sharu seemed lost, as she doesn't look like carrying any anti-demon equipment with her; she could, at most, evade the attacks. Which means, finding their way home would be only a part, and presumably a very small one, of the job they've stepped into there.

I am loving the OP. Any news on a release date for the single?
Did they get an actual British guy to play the role of the announcer, though? Well, that was a nice, light-hearted venture back into the depths of Flonyarde. :3

Poor "Graig Russell". I think "Greg" is either Australian or American. I think I heard a hint more Aussie in the voice. But it was a tad bit surprising to suddenly have English pop up. And perfectly clear, if oddly flat, English.
As for ep 1, I think it's a good way to kick off a small arc, introduce everyone and get a "moment of awesome" in ep 1. (Which they really animated well) It's awesome to be back with Dog Days, as it's such a fun series. Now, the wait for next week. |

A good way to start off and return to things. I do like the differing opening to the norm. Instead of going straight into a welcoming war game, they get into an incident.
I have to say it was nice for a change to get some actual English used by someone who is supposed to be fluent in it. Not exactly the most excited commentator, but those also exist so I wouldn't hold it against the episode. Is good to be back and I'm curious about the current situation in that forest. Certainly seems like meeting up with everyone will be important, but then tackling this demon situation at the same time. Could be an isolated incident, or a sign of a bigger conflict that they will have to deal with. Glad to be back with Dog Days though. A fun show .

You know, when this show first started I had almost discarded it outright. The trailers pre-release portrayed it as a serious series with actual wars and heroic summons. What we got shattered all expectations to the point nobody in the internet was giving spoilers on the ordeal until a day or so after the first episode had aired. I felt deceived and dropped the show at that time.
I bounced back later, when the first season was halfway through, and now here I am, with Dog Days being my most anticipated show of this season. Funny how things go sometimes. Quote:
Anime is so well practiced in upskirt shots that scenes like that will probably cut costs, if anything. |

Man, I've missed this series. It looks like this time we may be leaning more towards the first season's style of "fun with a bit of plot" rather than the second season's "just plain aimless fun," perhaps? Both styles were enjoyable in their own right, as far as I'm concerned, so I'll stick around whichever they choose.
So... my memory of Flognard metaphysics is a little rusty, but if demons are showing up in the same area in significant numbers, that would suggest there must be some larger corrupting influence in the area, wouldn't it?

Don't forget that you can translate any Flonyard script you see. The script you see on Shinku's magic seal says "Biscotti Republic" for example.

So there is new season of Dog days...
I am not against, it was always quite fun and I appreciate focus on Nanami this time around and if on top of that Eclair were to make combeck it might become my favourite guilty pleasure of season...
