Cast and most of the staff + studio is the same, with a new director and another studio:

The new season will have a new director. Akira Iwanaga (Tegami Bachi: Letter Bee, Isuca, The Morose Mononokean) is directing the anime at asread (who animated the first season with WHITE FOX) and Studio Mother. Shoichi Sato is returning to oversee and write the series scripts. Chika Kojima is again serving as the character designer and chief animation director.

The returning cast includes:

Yūki Kuwahara as Yue
Minami Takahashi as Shea
Yōko Hikasa as Tio Klarus
Saori Ōnishi as Kaori Shirasaki

We return to the world of Arifureta with an ominous glimpse at the future as Hajime is seen struggling(!) against a godlike and angelic woman, still declaring he will wipe out all his enemies .

The new Opening is another great song from MindRayn, and feels like a good successor to the first seasons' Opening, showcasing Hajime, his Harem, and the adventures/dangers they will face this season. Also seems like maybe Hajime's teacher ends up getting chained up and turned into a nun ?

Hajime's former classmates return to the kingdom and are greeted by Lilianna, the beautiful, purehearted, princess who seems to care for this class a great deal and has a good rapport with them, especially Shizuku. She even wants to meet Hajime (I can only imagine how that would go). Although while they're all safe and sound, they're still feeling the effects of seeing Hajime again, especially Kouki .

Hajime and his Harem are traveling through a raging desert in Brise, and Kaori and Yue are wasting no time trying to one-up each other as top wife for Hajime's heart. Kaori knows what he used to be like and understands he's still an Otaku at the end of the day (he's making Funnels!), but Yue's made much more direct romantic progression, both in terms of the bedroom and in terms of what Hajime's promised to do with her when he returns home. Although Myu just wants her big sisters to get along .

Peak Harem banter where you're still arguing over a guy and basically throwing yourselves at him even while sand worms are trying to kill you. Tio just landing her boobs on his face, Kaori using the danger as an excuse to glomp on him, Yue talking about her and Hajime's progress...and Hajime just wants to get through this one thing .

It seems like if anyone in this party is going to keep Hajime on the path of morality and helping people, it's Kaori and Myu, and they stumble up on the son of the duke of the kingdom they were heading to anyways and where Myu's mother is, which sets them on the path to saving a bunch of people afflicted with poisoned water .

Well, I guess Shea and Kaori can bond over feeling like third wheels to Hajime and Yue .

Meanwhile General Freid seems set on a path to becoming Hajime's enemy as Hajime's progress as an "Irregular" points him as a danger to the Demons, and Freid seeks power for his forces that will put him squarely against Hajime .

Not much has changed animation-wise, which means I shouldn't really get my hopes up that they fixed any of the problems this had in s1.

I sort of remember enjoying the first season but... that's pretty much the only thing I remember. It was entertaining but not exactly memorable. Rewatch seems like too much effort so I guess I'll just roll with s2 until I either remember or get bored. Otherwise... anus-worms haven't caught on since Dune (2021) sadly. Those sandworms are the throwback variety.

Well, the CGI looks better...which is honestly kind of weird in its own right .

Man, edgelord writers really love having their OCs show up the Hero, don't they? First it was this one, then Spider Isekai, then all of the anime where the Demon Lord is being a hero and the hero is being the villain... man, how the hell do you make fantasy this boring?

Dunno what an OC is, but the hero isn't a villain in So I'm s Spider, he's just a complete retard. Also, the guy with the Hero class in Arifuerta was an arrogant, pompous self-absorbed jackwagon well before the class got summoned. He just became *even more* insufferable afterwards.

At least with the generic fantasy hero story you can have some kind of entertainment watching the basic hero's journey, with "stories" like this one all the fun and entertainment is sucked right out of it because it's just a parade of the writer's fetishes and edgy power fantasies with none of the substance of a proper story.
