Continuing from 9:10, You(aki) laughs at at Sara's story. You(aki) asks what happened afterwards, and Sara informs her that they introduced themselves to his family, and that Tsugumi was all smiley afterwards. They're all living together now, and Sara mentions how Takeshi really spoils Hokuto even though he's the older of the twins. She then asks if Hokuto's been spoiling You(aki) as well, at which You(aki) blows off and tells her to worry about herself instead, and that she should get a boyfriend.

You(aki): Do you have a type that you like?
Sara: Mmm, papa!
You(aki): That would be a crime...
Sara: Then, big brother!
You(aki): NO! No way!

Sara mentions that You(aki) pretty much only started going out with Hokuto because he confessed, but You(aki) still tells her no. You(aki) tries to catch her but Sara runs into the rain, and she starts to play in it. She says that she doesn't want a boyfriend at the moment, and soon You(aki) joins in her splashing. Then, Sara tells You(aki) that her head hurts and that she sees two of her.

Skip foward, Sara wakes up in a bed and is being tended to by Hokuto and You(aki). Hokuto scolds Sara for playing in the rain, at which Sara apologizes. Tsugumi then walks in and starts to take care of Sara. Sara asks her about work, and Tsugumi tells her not to worry about it. Tsugumi tells Sara she has a bad affinity of water, and about the time she was swallowed by a wave as a child. Sara says she doesn't remember it at all and says that she's a failure as a ninja, and everyone starts to laugh. Tsugumi says that she's prepared some food (congee?), but Sara childishly says that she couldn't hold the spoon so Tsugumi begins to spoonfeed her. Hokuto says that they'll all stay with her until she falls asleep.

They then cut to two mysterious male voices.
Male1:How is it?
Male2: It's all going according to plan.
Male1: Alright, then it's about time.
Male2: But, why?
Male1: Dunno, but we better get going.
Male2: Yeah.
You then hear the sound of a door (or trunk?) closing and a car driving away.

Skip forward again, and Sara is panting painfully with a high fever. This wakes Takeshi, who wakes up Tsugumi. They call her name worriedly, and the next CD preview starts.

Somethings been bothering me for awhile. The Ever17 timeline says Tsugumi escaped the researc facility, and lived her life out as a fugitive on the run. If that's true, than how come in Takeshi's scenario there's a scene where a researcher tells her it's time for her to leave? I don't get it, was this some sort of mix up?

That's how it was written in Takeshi's scenario. The last part shows Tsugumi in the room with the animals before a researchers tells her it's time for her to leave. What I don't get is why its been said that she escaped and lived as a fugitive if she was told to leave by a researcher. Unless I'm missing something.

Doesnt that line point to her escape from LeMU? Im pretty sure she lived a life as fugitive between first LeMU accident and the second.

That would be before the LeMU incident. So I don't think it was referring to that.

I can't remember that specific scene (I'd have to reread it), but I think that researcher was helping her escape. Remember the scene in the final arc where Tsugumi recounts that there was an underground doctor that helped her when she was pregnant and when the twins were very young. He knew a suspicious lot about the Cure virus, which suggested he was a former researcher. Maybe (and this is a big "maybe"), maybe he was the researcher that helped Tsugumi escape). Nonetheless, it shows that not all the researchers there were cool with what Leiblich were doing.

I do remember that. I also remember a scene where the researchers were testing and one of them was against what they were doing, so you're probably right on what happened. Thanks, that really helped.

Finally finished Ever17 the other day, and man was I literally ing all over the place during the True End! This visual novel really is a masterpiece, and despite having an exorbitant amount of grammar issues on the translation, I really commend Hirameki for their efforts in bringing over such a fabulous piece (though it seems I might be a year and half late on that )

Spoiler for ending:

All of the revelations and answers to the mysteries were revealed in such a way that really shocked me without being too jarring. When You told the tale of her clone, for instance, I actually paused for a moment to allow all of the You'Haru vs You'Aki pieces of puzzle fall into place inside my head. That feeling of realization was priceless. The part where the time paradox was explained was also grand, because it really made alot of sense to me (apart from some inconsistencies, anyways).

If I'd really want to nitpick though, the way Hokuto and Takeshi survived so long in the water was really unrealistic. Hokuto's Heaven dive might be more acceptable, as I can attribute that to his apparent above-average physical endurance, but Takeshi waking up and swimming back to IBF was just plain crazy. It would take a Superman to withstand 12.5 atmospheres of pressure while being deprived of oxygen for more than a minute, and since Cure needs 5 years for it to completely take effect, I guess Takeshi must actually be Superman in disguise all this time. I'm also surprised how LeMU collapsing in 2017 left no damage on IBF at all. Even a scratch would've allow all the high-pressure gas to leak, ultimately causing implosion on IBF itself.

None of these nitpickings are enough to detract the entertainment from the game itself though. I just felt like voicing some of the things I found a bit strange.

Overall, I give this game a solid 9/10. It's definitely something I can wholeheartedly recommend to my friends.

Whew. After wanting this game forever, I finally played through the entire thing, more or less non-stop, in 3 days. Although I definitely got bored in parts and was thoroughly disappointed in Sara's path, the overall story was really intriguing, and I'm glad I stuck with the game to the end. And, after exercising my brain a little, here are some theories, thoughts, and questions I have upon its completion:

1. Why were they trapped in LeMU in 2017 to begin with? Leiblich had no reason to keep them there, as they had no way of knowing about IBF if they had been rescued right away, and there's no way Takeshi's friends or family at least wouldn't have noticed his disappearance.

2. Blick Winkel - why can he only appear from May 1-7 2017? If he's omnipresent, shouldn't he able to be called on anywhere? So, did only those exact conditions have to be met because he could only appear where he believed Coco would be present? Or was it because his existence in the 4th dimension only intersects with our plane, the 3rd dimension, at that one point, thus giving him jurisdiction only over that period of time? Moreover, it's my theory that he, for whatever reason, existed in 2017, regardless of whether he was called in 2034 by You'haru' or not - hence, his first appearance on earth was not in 2034. After all, in Sora's path, the events of 2034 could never happen, since there would be no Takeshi to save. So what was he doing there in 2017, then?

3. This isn't a question, but a theory regarding the black out. From what I gathered, the cause of the blackout itself is never explained (please correct me if I'm wrong and missed it somehow!). So my guess is that the blackout was completely unplanned and is what caused the TB virus to get loose, thus causing the panic that led to the researchers forcing their way out, resulting in the flooding.

4. Did Lemuria exist? Based on You's story regarding the mermaid's tears on Coco's path, it seemed to me that we are supposed to assume it did, and that the Cure virus came from there somehow. Then again, from the spoilers I've read here it seems the Cure virus popped up in other Infinity games, so that isn't necessarily true. So maybe it really is supposed to be fictional, but I felt as if we are supposed to believe that it actually existed. Any thoughts?

5. How did Coco's phantom figure out that BW was the same person that had been in Takeshi before? Moreover, how could she fall in love with him if, in 2017 when they met, she wasn't even aware of his existence in Takeshi? Or was she aware then, and I missed this somehow? Or did she meet him only in phantom form and formed her love through watching him struggle in the different realities to save her? But I think she mentioned she fell in love with him in 2017 and couldn't express her love then, so...yeah. I have no idea.

6. This is a comment, not a question. Wayy earlier in this thread, there was some talk regarding Tsugumi having the kids in Sora's path - but that isn't necessarily true. If we think of it as an alternative reality, or one of the several outcomes of the events, she might not even have gotten pregnant in Sora's ending, since Takeshi for sure died in that path and therefore the events of 2034 couldn't take place.


7. Another comment. I had serious issues with Takeshi's miraculous revival revival and Hokuto/BW diving to bottom of ocean in Coco's path. The game made a HUGE, sometimes even painful, fuss about explaining how these things were IMPOSSIBLE in the other paths. Even though Sara and Hokuto making it to the surface in Sara's good ending doesn't make sense either - they both should have died of decompression sickness - it was more touching and felt more like something that was very improbably, but not impossible, so I let it go. But Takeshi surviving that deep under the sea and then swimming to LeMU? And Hokuto/BW swimming that far? Nope, doesn't cut it for me. Part of the reason I liked this game so much was that it explained everything so scientifically that I could at least kinda see how things made sense and thus successfully limited the number of plot holes, but these two events defied everything the game worked to explain and thus left a sour feeling in my mouth.

8. Tsugumi's treatment of her children was ridiculous. She came to the park because she was told she'd see them again, yet she treats them like garbage and doesn't say anything? You'd think she'd at least be a bit nicer to them. And why did she predict Hokuto'd die on the 7th day? The amnesiac kid from 2017 survived to 2034 no matter what on Hokuto's path, since he's there as Takeshi. So why'd she predict his death?

9. I don't understand Suzunori's memory loss. Many explain it because of BW, but BW, from my understanding, is in TAKESHI in 2017, so how would that affect Suzunori's memories at all? I think it was something unrelated to LeMU, hence why it was left unexplained in the epilogue.

10. Why did Hokuto jump into the water in the beginning? I think it had something to do with finally escaping Leiblich and being on his own, but then again, was it even Hokuto? Hokuto should have been in the infirmary when this event happened, but from my understanding, everything seen from the kid's perspective is supposed to be Hokuto. So that really made no sense to me.

11. A theory of mine: the researcher that typed things in such a way that traces of You'haru''s parents were still left on the computer in LeMU was Coco's dad.

12. Random comment: The "life reading: 1" sign at the end of every path freaked me out a bit. The serious/mysterious music in some of the scenes even made me somewhat nervous. So kudos to the creators for making such a tense and suspenseful atmosphere.

I'm sure there's more, but that's all I can think of right now.

Is it all that great? I mean I've been having the hardest time enjoying reading about playing hide-and-go-seek and eating chicken sandwiches... I've had this thing on my comp for over a year and haven't been motivated at all to finish.

Seriously, you guys are f-ing trapped underwater with a limited amount of air and you're playing around... wtf people, start going insane...

Is it really worth playing through? Cuz my motivation = 0, at this point in time.

@ ac195: Personally, I wasn't particularly attached to any of the characters and I, too, got really bored doing useless things like playing tag and eating sandwiches. In fact I mostly only found Sat/Sun on every path except for the last one to be interesting. What compelled me to finish the game was the story. I REALLY wanted to know what happened. So I'd have to say that the story is actually just as good as everyone says. But is it executed in the best way possible? No, not at all. I think it was executed somewhat poorly, to be honest - the days were too dragged out. But I liked what was at its core enough to stick it out. I'd recommend playing through at least one path, preferably 2, to the end (I'd recommend one of Takeshi's first...I found his endings more interesting than the Kid's) before deciding to abandon it. The true ending really is pretty neat, though, and if you hypothesize and try to figure things out as you go along, it makes the game much more interesting.

So far I've only finished Tsugumi's path. I was working on Sora's... but I was bored to tears and lost all motivation. I guess I'll give it another shot when I have the time... but that true ending better be "WTF MARVELOUS!!!" or I'm gonna be disappointed.

I just finished the game for the first time with You's good ending and saw the epilogue.... I have no idea what really happened but I really don't feel like replaying it 4 times to get the true ending because of the slow, boring parts. Are there any recommended paths to take next? Any that I can just skip? I have a complete save if needed.

I would still say play them all. Gives you a better wtf moment when you get the true ending and see how it all fits in.

I need to go play the bad endings but I really don't wanna see them lol. To me, it didn't feel like any of the days or scenes were dragged out. Still, one of the best visual novels there is out there.

EDIT: wow, forgot you had to get all 4 routes to get the true ending. Musta been a while.
