Light novel 'Kyuukyoku Shinka Shita Full Dive RPG ga Genjitsu Yori mo Kusoge Dattara' is getting a TV anime adaptation. Coming April (Spring) 2021.

Plot Premise

The story follows a dull high school student named Hiro Yūki (a double pun on "hero" and "heroism" in Japanese) when he is tricked into joining a full-dive (fully immersive VR) role-playing game. The game, Kiwame Quest (literally, "Ultimate Quest"), is promoted as "more real than reality" with mind-blowing graphics, impressive NPC behavior, and even the scent of foilage and the sensation of wind blowing against your skin.

Unfortunately, the game is already a virtual ghost town, after being flooded with player complaints that the game is little too realistic for its own good. Its quests are nearly impossible to clear, since players have to be as physical fit to complete them as they would in real life. Players feel actual pain when they get hit, and puncture wounds takes days to heal.

The only reward is the mere sense of accomplishment. It is the complete opposite of a casual pick-up-and-play game, but Hiro vows to beat this most realistic (and most stressful) game ever.

First vol. came out just over 3 months ago and already the TV anime is planned for April? Unless the writer planned on having an anime from the start (something like 1 those mixed media approaches), it is possible there might be quite a bit of filler in the anime. In terms of the record of a manga/light novel coming out and its anime premiere, this series is definitely a candidate for the shortest turn-around time.

ok I liked the sword art online joke that he pull since the game was too real and wanted to see if he could log out. Beside that, what the hell?, man what a chapter, seriously that game it too real and what a way to start this, I thought this was another video game anime/isekai like every season but it did start with some twists.

Chapter one got me interested, let's see if mc can keep screwing up.

The animation quality of this show looks surprisingly good.

I kinda get what this anime is aiming for but the main protagonist is dull. Other than that, there's nothing too special about this show imo. Character chemistry sells the most entertainment to me imo, especially with Reona's personality. She's much more entertaining to watch than Yuuki.

When VRMMO's have become so prolific that they've finally developed a super-realistic fantasy VRMMO...and no one wants to play it because it's too realistic. People tend to play games for the escapism, not the realism. Maybe that's why Akihiko Kayaba needed to trap people in a death game .

I can kind of get the sense why Hiro is so into VRMMO's. Something happened in track during a big meet that ruined his prospects, he's extorted money by bullies, his own little sister thinks he's a pest, and it doesn't seem like he has much good in his life other than his old track buddy and the video games in his life .

I think most people would probably prefer to purchase games from a super-busty store clerk voiced by Ayana Taketatsu who tells it like it is, even if she ends up foisting old games no one else wants to play on you. But obviously a sexy woman implying you can do sexy games in an "adult" game would entice most 17-year olds .

Wait. "Reona" like the SAO Opening singer? Voiced by Ayana Taketatsu, the voice of Suguha/Leafa? She even ends up being a fairy girl in the game, although in function she's more like a sexy version of Yui. Not that that's a bad thing .

It's an anime so of course Hiro walks in on his sister in her underwear. Kaede may not like her brother much, but she looks pretty cute and she's voiced by Aoi Koga, so she has that going for her .

So the game starts out pretty standard, quest to defeat the demon lord, cute childhood friend, steady best friend...up until the NPC's are barring you from actually moving forward in the game, beating you up, and then you end up committing accidental murder on said NPC. Which then causes said NPC's sister to go crazy and chase after you for murdering your brother. What a way to start a game .

Is that the Ending theme at the end? It's a nice, peppy, theme showing off the lovely ladies of the anime and their good-looking bodies, although it seems like Hiro will be too busy with their antics and the craziness of the game to get to enjoy them .

But you know, in a RPG where you can kill NPCs and all of your five senses are perfectly reproduced, I'd think people would give up on following the plot and focus on plowing the childhood friend or other players (reminds me of that Black Mirror episode). Incidentally, Reona has some awesome titties.

Reona seems to imply going for the childhood friend route right off the bat is a valid starter playstyle .
