I just checked that Kantai collection thingy and I just can't agree with their depiction. It's just isn't my Kongou, Takao nor Hyuga.

EDIT: And creators of that game pandering hard. What is with all these E-cups? Most important part on warships are obviously legs!!!

Both Supreme Battleships are wounded (technically impossible to be caused by humans)
Yamato had the grown up Kotono as the mental model
Musashi just formed her mental model with her core in suspension
The only passenger on Musashi, was Shouzou, who was a collateral.
perhaps Iona was made by Musashi, but subs are capable to make their own mental models anyway.

Happened 17 years ago at the end of the "Great Sea Battle"
Yamato and Musashi are indeed damaged by human's final ditch effort (or by Shouzou's)
Musashi just rescued Shouzou and was about to "repair" him.
Yamato is just watching
That's when Iona's mental model actually first appeared (or made my Musashi), she is assigned to carry off Shouzou or sent to the humans.

It's actually Yamato's precognition
She's seeing fighting with Musashi, wounding Shouzou
Iona was summoned and had no clue why she's there

It just pains me to see both Yamato class ships at each others' throats though....maybe I'm too much of a warship fan but it seems almost blasphemously heartwrenching

Well, clearly they are in different factions now with their own goals.

I would like to think that:

Shouzou lived on Musashi for 17 years after the Great Battle and managed to adopt her.

and Yamato, made a mental model (Kotono) like a regular human and grew up with Gunzo. (manga said that Kotono was Gunzo's childhood friend)

Iona was created before all other mental models for a special purpose

and now Yamato made Yukikaze to stalk Gunzo.

Funny Yukikaze is like the most lucky and cursed Japanese ship during WW2.
She participated in almost all major battles and survived without a scratch. All ships she escorted (that are not supposed to sunk like Musashi) are either sunk or critically damaged beyond repair.
Sad sad Yamato... Yukikaze was cursed enough to be just an escort, but when it became Yamato's "direct defender", Yamato got hit so violently, she exploded in a mushroom cloud that was felt miles away..401...I'll pray for you

Takao was definitely one of the "luckier" ships. I want to see more of her again ><

My favourite now is the Vampire. It's absolutely hilarious and super-intelligent. I think I'm going to spice up her "dialogue" a bit next time

There is several discrepancies in this. First I remember family photo (or maybe it was flashback?) where Shouzou is with his son, and Gunzou doesn't look two years old. Reason for it is that after great battle Shouzou sailed 401 until he disapeared two years ago (which is btw very likely depicted in this flashback).

Second while I am not sure if we can trust everything that Yamato says. If we do, she doesn't know why she has same face as Gunzou childhood friend and reason why she adapted Kotono name was just to different between two of her cores. Yet why she is know that much about Gunzou and thus also Kotono is still one of biggest mysteries.

That Yukikaze trivia is very interesting though.

That's good observation, I thought Gunzo was older than 17 years old and his father had left him 17 years ago to fight the"great sea battle".

It nice that you pointed out Shuozou was also the captain of 401 for a period of time and he disappeared along with 200 something crews. (Maybe this happened 2 years ago, or even before that)

I still recall a scene when the incident at the academy took place, we saw Kotono's final words was "I am happy...?" I guess she was in love with Gunzo after all. I don't like saying Yamato is a liar, but it becomes fishy from a scene where both of her mental models agreed that Gunzo was a "spoiled child".
We'll wait and find out more I guess.
