Translations are done by people and means are subject to the translator's understanding.

When the translator doesn't take into consideration what situation that a term is being used... you get the word "Nymph" instead of "Fairy".

That can be understood because Nymph and Fairy are almost synonyms, but in this case they even hear the Japanese words differently that lead to different meanings

For ex, the last line:

GG:
suki da to itte... (Tell me that you love me)

Lunar:
sonna no ii tte... (Never mind that...)

Which one is right?

Hmm, I was re-reading your post and yes Lunar did a pretty good job at butchering the translation. It's odd because they usually don't do that.

Honestly, for me gg is fine till AonE and co. come out with their subs.

Does that mean GG is more accurate? I tend to be a bit skeptical about their works because they always seem to be in a hurry to release the fastest sub They even missed 2 (not 1 ) lines in the bridge bunnies scene (just before yousei)

Sans the extra line, I'd say yes...

Second opinions anyone?

I really kind of liked the outro with the harmonizing, etc. I dunno... to each their own.

I like GG's because it's fast and understandable. Then I usually just download Lunar's when it comes out, and compare the two. Some times GG's is easier to understand, but the way Lunar's is worded I can tell that it's probably closer to the literal meaning (though, I only say this because I've had experience with translating other languages).

It should be said that I only know a few words in Japanese, so I'm probably not a strong authority on this subject.

Edit: stray, I love your avatar.

I too think gg's sub is easier to understand and their lyrics translations are more poetic, but still it can't ease my doubt...

Help, anyone?

I prefer gg... they are fast and good and making seldom stupid errors.

I prefer gg too. I got used to their style as well as fonts. Their quality is actually very nice in comparison with their speed. If I want to watch a high quality work I go for AonE.

Yep, I get gg's subs and then wait for AonE to come out (even if it is an extremely long wait).

Though.. the only prob with AonE for me is their hardsubbed karaoke.

Just heard a leaked version of Blue Ether without violin in it...kind of weak. I hope they use the anime version in OST2, it adds so much more to the song. Hope Ranshee and Sheryl's Aimo's on there too.

Leaked full versions of Yousei, Blue Ether and Diamond Crevasse 50/50 are out. Rather low quality though.

According to the official website, "Macross F Final Galaxy Tour" will take place at Nippon Budokan on 11/5.

Congratulation to Yoko Kanno, May'n and Megumi Nakajima! .

Finally got to hear full version of Yousei. It's so beautiful! I hope it comes in OST II. More Sheryl songs please!
