Well, at least the cat is, it could be just the cat without Mao's personality from the last episode.
But the name given to it, from the picture, is indeed "Mao", and it still has the satellite datalink on his ear.

aohige.... that is a nice picture!!, and it makes my mind fly.... it seems that Hei is paying his retribution? (Bai´s retribution was to sleep... ) so maybe he became a full contractor after the last incident in hell`s gate?
And Mao... well, we can see the cat mao, but we cant know if that`s our mao (i mean, if the contractor inside the cat is alive)

Sure, Mao coming back is nice and all....but I have to admit, the first thing I thought when I saw that was "Another HeixYin scan?! " HeixYin might not be a pipe dream after all.

I really don't see Hei x Yin in that image. It's like people see two characters close like that, and it's what you jump towards immediately.

Compared to the non-close-ness that they were shown as in all the scans for the first season? They were never even shown in any kind of embrace or anything close in the S1 scans, now we have these two scenes.

Not that I hold the series to magazine scans alone of course, since they are just magazine scans, but as I said the S1 scans showed no hints or suggestions of a connection or relationship between the two of them whatsoever, and now the scans are showing them pretty much clinging to each other.

Yin was shown to open up more towards the end of the first season. I don't expect them to be hugging and such in the second season because of this, though it's nice that the scans are showing the improvement's she has made.

Well, we have to think that they were the only ones in contractors team that survive (april and july suvive too, and we can think that they are together) and are together, and as i said, this second scan with Hei sleeping makes me think that he is paying a retribution... can you see that he is smiling?

Well, fingers crossed first that Yoko Kanno will work on the second season. It hasn't been announced that she will yet.

With Brotherhood it's completely different. It's not a second season, and they're adapting the manga, so of course a change in composer is needed so it won't be anywhere similar to the first series.

This is the second season of Darker than Black, so i hope they won't go with anyone else. Yoko Kanno is needed.
