The shounen(boy's) light novel series Yoku Wakaru Gendai Mahou by Sakurazaka Hiroshi (author) and Miyashita Miki (illustrator) will be getting animated.

A nice cast, Nomad at the helm (I like what I've seen of their work). And magic is always welcome, so it looks like it might be worth a watch.

The shounen(boy's) light novel series Yoku Wakaru Gendai Mahou is not finished >_< but its still continuing. Volume 5 of the light novel series was released in May 2005, and the sixth light novel volume was recently released in March 2009

almost 4 years gap between the 5th and the 6th volume

What is this anime/light novel about, anyway?

The name roughly translate into "Easy to understand Modern Magic"(Modern Magic for Dummies?

). From the description the main character is a first year high school girl. She's short and very mediocre in all academics. Nothing special. But she wants to be a sombody. So she decided to study magic when she found a flyer for magic academy.

I'm guessing hilarity ensues? Haven't read it so I don't know.

I think it's more like magic of the digital age meets magic of the...magical girl variety.

Going to watch this purely for Miyashita Miki's character design/art. HUGE fan of her art style

The OP is "programming for non-fiction" by Natsuko Aso. Her second single after the Shin Mazinger ED this cour.

The ED is "Made in WONDER" by Aki Misato.

Hmm, this could possibly be very interesting.

The trailer was certainly promising. I wonder how serious / comedic this series is? Definitely aimed at guys... Maybe a little like Ultra Maniac it'll subvert the mahou-shoujo genre a bit?

If the author and illustrator's other works are anything to go by, there's a good chance of that.

Yumiko is one of the brightest illimuniated illustrated characters I have ever seen. I'm liking her.... Ep. 00 was interesting, I think I'll keep an eye on this.
