Now that I think about it, Gungnir doesn't have any rival at all in S1 and G.

Well one could say that Shirabe was Hibiki's rival primarily due to their outlooks on life. Hibiki trying to help everyone and Shirabe viewing her as a hypocrite.

That was just Shirabe being clueless about Hibiki's past and how little (or how much) it had influenced her present behavior. And as a rivalry it didn't pan out much more than Tsubasa and Maria's face-offs did.

Rivalries between the two groups in season 2 was more of a red herring than anything else. The major symphogear showdowns came down to infighting. Chris vs. Tsubasa, Shirabe vs. Kirika. A few other short encounters (such as a couple Tsubasa vs. Maria), but in the end the real enemy was the creepy scientist, Nephilim, and the use of the Noise.

That's true. That's one thing on the "wants" list for Season 3.

It could also mean that Miku becomes a member of the team along with Hibiki, Tsubasa and Chris. Symphogear Four. Dual meaning.

Symphogear G was because of Gungnir obviously. A good part of the plot was about Gungnir be it Maria or Hibiki.

So if there is a temptative tittle that would had to be related to a weapon.

If we're talking about what the major point of the plot was it should have been Symphogear M for the Moon. I'd say Gugnir was less importance than it was in the first season.

In the end if there's a debate as to meaning then obviously never comes into play

IIRC, somebody on /m/ said that the character book mentions how the G is supposed to be like Getter Robo G.

I guess G was just an obvious title for something with mecha influence.

Coming to this thread then reading that season three is confirmed came as an unexpected but welcomed surprise.

Crosses my fingers, so the third season gets released next year on spring.

I guess some Gears each got some own references and design either mecha or Gundam.

Just like you said, it should be M instead cuz the plot of story is all about the moon. At the same time G is most suitable for Gungnir.

Also... I was disappointed by season 2. In season 1 it was a major plot element that they HAD to keep singing while transformed. In season 2, they kind of forgot about that, quite often.

Season 3 needs far more combat singing; that's my favorite part of the series! Oh, and less Miku.
