It's a 2-cour, so 24-25 episodes, IIRC.

So 12 more episodes of boredom.
Thanks.

Or, y'know, you could just stop watching the show if you hate. No goddamn point in watching something you don't enjoy.

I hate dropping shows, especially popular stuff like Gundam. I generally tend to drop only shows that are REALLY bad, not just boring.

Give it a chance.

This might be like the Turn A Gundam, where it starts slow but picks up in the middle and mind blows everyone in the end.

Outside of some complaints about the characters acting very irrationally sometimes and the general complaints you'd get about animation quality in weekly shows whats not to like about Recon G? Its an interesting take on the typical UC gundam. It has a fun cast with good chemistry behind them, the suit design is really unique, its general message seems to be pretty good and very current with whats happening in japan now days.

It could go either way, but its generally been improving from its weak start. The only way that it could blow up if its production falls apart, and I dont think Sunrise is going to let that happen given that its been pretty successful so far.

Admittedly, G-Reco was hard to follow at first--scene transitions could be very abrupt, leaving little flow (which would take up some time) that you'd see in other shows, not just Gundam. But even then I was able to figure out what was going on and why people were reacting how they were, and with the trip to Towasanga coming up, I'm finally hooked--I want to know what's going to happen next.

Hopefully with 100% less reused footage this time?

What, a new OP song already? Godammit, Garnidelia's song is so good too but they only given reused footage as the accompaniment of their song. They don't deserve this treatment. I hope OP1 got a full original animation in the Blu-ray, if not, I swear the guys behind this series is freakin' lazy. Tomino's previous Gundams have well-animated OPs. Even "stock-footage extraordinaire"-series like Wing and SEED have original animation for their OPs, that's saying something.

Now, if OP2 still uses stock footage and still use it in the Blu-ray, there's no redeeming these guys. Seriously.

So...did you watched Twilight too just because it's popular? Then I'm sorry for you .

Anyway, just a piece of advice. When it comes to entertainment, you'd better off watching what you enjoy or interested in (unless you're a critic or get paid for it). Life is too short to endure popular entertainment that you don't enjoy imo.

What if it was deliberately done so because Tomino doesn't like commercialised music tie-ins? Perhaps his tantrum went like this...

"Who said they could put this dumb Sony Music song in my robot show so they could piggyback their CD sales? F*** this, they're getting scraps for their opening footage."

It just might happen again.

I'm okay with a new OP. It's the ED I'll miss if they change it.

I’ll be seriously pissed at Tomino if he (and his team) does that. Having original animation for OP is like common sense for all anime series. Sure, it doesn’t make or break the series, but reused footage for OP is what I usually expect from cheap dub-work anime done by some overseas distributors/broadcasters (usually Americans who also often replacing decent OP & ED songs with trashy techno), not a genuine and major studio like Sunrise.

It’s not how I will miss OP1 when OP2 arrives, but more about Sunrise/Tomino’s willingness to provide decently animated OP. It’s a shame Garnidelia’s song got wasted on reused scenes. I hope OP2 has better luck.

No G-Reco for this week, huh? Oh well, I'm hoping that the second opening sequence won't have any reused footage! Still, I'm gonna miss "Blazing"... It was a cool song!

EDIT: Take back what I've said... There's Ep. 14!

No, I don't really follow western media, a few exceptions aside.

The reality is that there are very few shows worth watching anyway and I've got nearly 700 shows completed on MAL, so I've got a reputation to uphold.

Apparently BD/DVD reservations were grossly exaggerated and its actually doing not that well in sales so far. I have no idea why Stalker had it so wrong.

Also it was my first time in japanese boards reading their comments and boy do they troll this series a lot. Didn't think this series was so divisive

Actually, Tomino's Gundam shows have been quite divissive starting from Gundam ZZ. So, this hardly comes off as a surprise. And given previous experience of Tomino's show in modern era (Turn-A), I also expected G-Reco to not sell that well. Now, I don't know the actual data, but I won't be surprised if this show's doing as bad as Turn-A or even worse. It's too bad because I'm enjoying this show so far as its 'weird' approach in storytelling feels refreshing if not nostalgic compared to recent mecha shows that have so much melodrama and angst (Aldnoah, Valvrave, Gundam 00, Eureka 7, SEED, etc, even Tomino's own Mobile Suit Gundam). Don't get me wrong, I enjoy them melodramatic shows (even love a number of them) It's just refreshing to watch a mech show that doesn't focus too much on it so far. Just pure fun as long as you can keep up with the narrative and forgive some plot holes .
