Also, what if there's no net cafe near your hotel? Yes, I know they're almost ubiquitious in Japan, but what about a classic ryokan? And if you bring your laptop, I don't think you'll have wireless Internet at the more traditional places.
I dont think the requirement is in real time...
I mean who the hell will write a blog in his vacation time?

Sure i'll write a field report or a blog, but after i come back from Japan...
I'll rather spent any seconds in my time in Japan to do something except sitting in an Internet cafe writing a blog...

That probably rules out most bloggers except those with a high number of site visitors :| . Ah well, with the exchange rate as it is it'd probably make more sense for me to go somewhere else next year, and then visit Japan in a few years time. It's not as if Mt. Fuji is going anywhere .

Well, the newspaper I work for has a circulation of only 300,000...

And, I've been told that I take somewhat nice pictures...

So...

Actually that could be fun, wild camping across japan, documenting wildlife, different countryside types and agricultural practices. Do a weekly blog entry about findings and sorted.
But paid plane tickets is one thing, living expenses and probably getting arrested is another matter.

But hey, go by yourself and you'd pay the plane fees on top of the living expenses and personal expenditure. And what are you even planning on doing while you're there that'll get you arrested? o.o

I reckon some local people will find it suspicious, seeing a foreign man running and shitting in the woods ^^, hence arrest

If I save enough to go by next year after Christmas (Comiket 83), I'd publicise my trip the whole week for free.

Nobody told you to be THAT in touch with Japan, I think...

You don't even know how many pictures and videos I'd capture while I'm there. I will go one way or another someday, this would just make it happen so much quicker.

The agency will mainly accept applications online, and if an applicant's travel plans meet the program's criteria, the agency will sponsor the applicant's round-trip airfare to Japan.

The purpose of the program is to have participants spread the word of their travels online and, by extension, the safety of visiting Japan now. The agency is allocating 1.1 billion yen (about US$14 million) from its requested 2012 budget for the program.

Blogger and television host Danny Choo is informally asking his readers to describe their travel plans via a questionnaire and short responses.

Oh. My. God.

This is so exciting. Your opinion everyone?
Oh man! I was already planning on taking a trip to Japan with my father and cousin. I should try this out, see how my luck turns out. Thanks for the info!

If any of us animesuki members get selected, we should form a group so we can stick together & not get lost.

By the power of smell. AS folk give off a funny scent y'see.

Seriously though, if you're looking to meet up, then sending other group members an image of yourself would be the most obvious option....

and no not that kind of image!

It's a simple process you see. If people get picked they'll flock back here and in the old CAPS LOCK ?!?!?!?!!!! sense we'll hear about who got selected and whatnot. If somehow multiple people on here are chosen and want to meet up, they should pick a time and place, along with a photo or a solid description of themselves.

Are transfer of tickets allowed? I don't know if I have enough time next year to go on a mandated date because I need to save tons to go back to school in 2013.
