Tenma had only "feelings" for Karasuma, she never showed anything more than friendshippish feelings towards Harima, since Harima has acted like a big brother to her throughout the series. Soo what I understand that this was an actual ending to the mystery of Tenma and Karasuma ever getting together. Harima, still remains a mystery, and from what I understood this wasn't a total new beginning, just a remeeting, or something like that. He still has strong feelings for Tenma though.

I know it wasn't the writer's aim, but have you guys noticed how much Harima has been through all because of his love for Tenma?

Plus I thought this ending was actually good compared to other animes/mangas, like Cowboy Bebop just had me pissed, yeah it is an ending, but not a good one

I think it would have been much cooler if Harima stopped caring about Tenma and got over her, then she realized that he had been in love with her and regretted not reciprocating, cuz he was the one who really loved her all along.... kinda Cyrano de Bergerac style.

i've been unable to get hold of the last two ova's and i'm desperate to know what happens at the end i.m so confused could someone please tell me what actually happens to every body please i'm desperate to know would really appreciate it.

It makes me queezy just to reminisce over the most horrible ending ive ever come across. What makes it worse is the ending happens to belong to one of my fave shows ever! But since your desperate here are the spoilers-

Harima delivers Tenma to the airport where she leaves in pursuit of karusuma who has a life threatning disease and is seeking medical attention in America(sounds like a soap opera to me). finally Tenma knows of Harimas feelings it only took 270+ chapters of manga for a confession!

Harima tells Eri shes a B*, she beats him up, later both develop a mutual respect for each other (pretty romantic conclusion eh )

in the end harima and most of your fave charachters end up alone and die alone. Hey i liked watching the OVA's cuz im a SR fan, but to call this a proper ending is bs.

The ovas should be easy to find online...

In the OVAs Harima doesn't confess at the airport, but mumbles something weird on the airport bench that is not a confession and Tenma remembers that he was indeed the pervert right after that and then they start shouting, but it ends when Tenma has to go. After that Tenma gets on and they show Harima saying his thoughts, and after that FINALLY they show Tenma on the airplane saying that he heard what Harima was shouting on the motorbike (which was that "he was doing all this because he loves Tenma from the bottom of his heart"), and after saying that, she says that "No. The truth is that maybe even long before that...". The subs could be iffy because they are subs, but maybe it was intended in the audio too to present that maybe Tenma has always kinda seen through Harima, but still treated him as a close friend (except when she thought he was a bad guy).

Then the Eri scene.

And then the time skip, Karasuma gets some weird memory eating disease in the States and he loses his memory. Tenma is by his side. They get everybody except Harima together again to help Karasuma regain his memory. Almost everybody look the same and they have some pie war at the party. Harima has fallen back to his delinquent ways and after travels around the world he has gotten pretty "big" and rough in his manner. He arrives at the party even though he wasn't invited, and Karasuma remembers that he is Hanai. Harima then tries to confess to Tenma, again, since he still doesn't know that Tenma knows. While he's trying, Tenma gets all emotional and starts to cry. Other people start throwing pies at Harima, because he made Tenma cry. ---> Everybody have a happy pie war. Teh end.

Wait, the English nun-chick is also living with Yakumo for some reason, in the Tsukamoto house. Tenma is in the States. And Ichijou is a Dojiboron star. Mikoto has F-cup.

well at least now i know so all those years of waiting for the conclusion and this is what we get, its actually sickening to think that this could happen, so in the end the 3 most interesting characters end up no where, just one more thing when you say Harima has return to his old ways is he still drawing his manga not that it makes much difference. Thanks everyone it's been eating at me for a long time now i'm going to go hang my self in the corner.............jokes but i feel that way anyway. One of the greatest anime turned into the greatest dissapointment of my life bar nun....

You should really just google the OVAs ("school rumble third term ova 1 & 2" or with similar words) and either ehh download them from file sharing sites since certain forums have links to the files, or just watch them from video sharing sites.

The OVAs weren't that weird in School Rumble terms, but the last minutes were just horrible as an ending, for once School Rumble should have been serious about it.

Karasuma "remembers" Harima as Hanai is actually the first memory he remembers from the old times and before this it has been completely blank to him, and it has a bigger meaning because of this since it proves that he can regain his memory with the help of the other people.

I might be completely wrong here but what is the chances that the last 2 ova's where just to give the guy sometime to finish what ever he is doing with school how crazy is it to think that there might be more coming.

It's just narration of manga chapters with some b.chapters and scenes taken out. Though pretty surprised that the Yakumo scenes in the summaries had no cuts.

Y'know, i actually find the handling of the anime ending rather interesting...

first off, it has the same horrible ending of the manga, an ending that is made out of pure epic fail... and at the same time it cuts out A LOT of the material that comes in before the end of the manga; the material of which is from the best last few chapters of the manga... What i find interesting is that i actually like the anime ending more despite the fact that it kept the worst part and cut out the best

Here's the genius behind the direction...
The parts that the cut out are some great chapters... these chapters sent off of the shippers, spark the fans and make our imaginations go wild with the potential of what's to come... The director may have understood this, and that's why he cut it out (though it was probably just time constraints and thus it's really just a fluke)

you see, the true reason that the ending of the manga was such a horrible let down to the point where we want to damn KJ's name was not because of how bad the ending itself was, but because it was drastically different from what he expected from what the previous chapters showed... We saw the potential for something great, something amazing; it was the PERFECT set up for sequel... the potential of what school rumble COULD have been just made our mouths water with anticipation... But then... KJ didn't deliver... and not only did he not deliever, he gave us like the polar opposite of our expections... our sky high hopes for the series resulted in a horrible crash and burn of disappointment... it's like they say about hype; the higher your hopes the more the fall is gonna hurt (or something like that)

So what the anime did in it's adaption of the manga ending is slice out EVERYTHING that would have given us hope for the series and erase all the juicy potential, and just leave us with the bland ending...

The anime ending was rather uninspired and just plain mediocre... but this is actually a huge upgrade from the manga ending which felt like it should have been burned in a fire so that no future readers could ever lay eyes on it ever again (worst. last. chapter. ever.)

Also as noted before in the anime Harima didn't that vision that Tenma likes him. It degenerates his character development as opposed to the final episode where he hadn't that imagination that Tenma still likes him and he has hope, but he's there more as a friend and the anime portrays that Tenma now has feelings towards Harima though he's already with Karasuma.

Too bad it ended like the manga, the anime still can have a sequel since it's like Rorounin Kenshin the good ending in the manga where they live happily ever after, but in the anime an OVA continued Kenshin's story which we thought he'd live happily ever after, but died with his wife Kaoru with his sickness.

IMHO SCHOOL RUMBLE ANIME NEEDS REDEMPTION!!! >___<

Although when you think about it..... the terrible ending was kind of inevitable. I mean, SR is based entirely on a bunch of unreciprocated loves.... and they're all ridiculously passionate, too, so the chance of a win-over by ANYBODY who has a crush on someone who has a crush on someone else was near impossible..... take Tenma, for example. Could she possibly have gotten over her love for Karasuma to love Kenji? Could Kenji have gotten over his love for Tenma (which was ALL he ever thought about) to fall for Eri or Yakumo in the end? I wish it did happen, and I'd like to say it could, but quite frankly, it would have been a little bit weird.
(not to say I approve of the ending... damn the ending. KJ was out of his damn mind coming up with something like that. He better redeem himself T__T )

I waited a long time to see the last two because I'd heard about what a non-ending
the ending really was and figured "what the heck".

Ugh. Several things really rubbed me the wrong way.

First of all, this was most definetely a "we can't afford a full season, we can't
even afford a half season, you get two episodes. That's it."

So it seemed that any extraneous silliness was wasting what precious time
we had on silliness that we wouldn't mind in the context of a longer production.

That being said, something that bothered me more than it should have:

Harima making snap judgements about Eri based on her appearance.

Ugh.

The very POSTER BOY for not making snap judgements based on appearance,
who has suffered more because people think the worst of him because of the
way he looks makes a snap judgement on her appearance and pays the price.

Whoa. What were you thinking you dope? She should have hit you a few
more times.

Eri strikes me as the type of girl who is so attractive guys are intimidated and
don't approach her at all - remember she says "one would be enough for me"
so she's never dated as she's never found the right guy. Harima definetely
put his foot in his mouth there.

No wonder she's turned off by guys (or rather immature high school boys),
the ones who talk with her put her down, the ones who might talk with her
are too frightened of how pretty she is to talk with her.

I'm way too serious about a cartoon show here.

The whole ending with Karasuma going to America for treatment - realistic.

The whole thing with Tenma following him there (very unrealistic IMHO) and
bringing him back (even more unrealistic) to have a party for him to stir his
memory was just too compressed and slapped together halfheartedly even
for me. I know, it's just a show and I should relax.

And for a supposed tough guy, Harima couldn't confess to anyone much less
Tenma without being scared to death. Dissappointing. Some tough guy he is..

He kinda sorta did it and she might even understand his feelings but he's really
a poor choice for any of them I guess. The whole pie fight segue was just a way
for them to end the episode and give us four minutes of credits. Ack.

If it's true that the Mangaka of this series ended it with a "you decide"
ending for fear of upsetting his fans, that's even worse.

And...controversial opinion:

You know, I'm seeing a lot of parellels in this story between the mangaka
of SR and Fujishima who authored "Ah My Goddess", similar unresolved
issues going on forever without ever getting a final definitive "this
is the way I finish my story and I stand behind my ending" kind of
confidence.

Face it, it's kind of a bizzarre harem anime where nobody gets anyone
because it's written to allow the viewer to insert themselves into the
scenario so YOU can "get" the person you want, IMHO. That's what it
seems like to me.

But so many unresolved threads and that first year was SO strong and
there are bits and pieces of it here and there.

IMHO? He should have finished the story before it became a huge
phenomenon. Once you let your fans of various factions influence your
storywriting the thing goes off the rails.

Sigh. I'll stop now.
