Tyranitar and Terrakion in this generation are two of the most common. Rhyperior is in the UU tier, IIRC. Before that, Aerodactyl was also part of the group, but he got booted far, far down the tier ladder.

And just to add to what Who said above:

What starters are even average now? The original three, Feraligatr, the Gen III trio, Infernape and Empoleon. I haven't really kept up with Gen V since it doesn't interest me at all, but I don't recall the new trio having anything to make them even average. So of the 15 starters, 9 are average or better. That means 40% are worse than average.

If only Charizard got the same buffs that Venusaur and Blaziken did...

I suppose, but Dream World became a joke when it started giving out OP abilities like Drizzle and Drought. It was a good premise for powering up old Pokemon, but they should've just not made so many OP Pokemon in the first place. Balance down, don't balance up.

I don't tend to count the legendary pokemon when considering what's used and isn't (hence ignoring Terrakion) because their stats often times make up for the one thing that makes rock pathetic: weakness to just about every common attack type... and usually no SD for their weakness to predominantly SA based moves. Rhyperion and Tyranitar were the only ones I could think up (thinking back to Gen IV, I haven't done much competitive play in Gen V), though I honestly forgot to mention Tyr for some reason. (Absurd attack power and physical wall, and Sand Stream respectively.)

I'd LOVE to use Omastar and its absurd abilities... if only it didn't get one shot by anything with a grass move. Heck, any of the fossil pokemon all have this particular and glaring shortcoming. Its like finding an ice-type pokemon that's actually good...

Actually, if they follow the ages of B/W instead of all the other games, I believe they'll be 16.

assumptions assumptions, anyway they "look" younger, but it's by no means an accurate measure.

Also, that new poison gym leader, who the hell turned Yui Hirasawa from K-On into a heavy metal chick? I hope we get new Elite Four members too, and more new gym leaders.

I'll just go ahead and say that I'll only get this game if and I mean if only I don't need to hold down B to run.
Sorry but the way they changed a few things in B&W I really didn't like.
Having to press X to get the menu up I also wasn't fond of.
Maybe a dumb reason but reason enough for me.

Sorry this might be a bit off topic'ish but is there any apparent differences from playing any Pokemon games (mainly black & white) on a 3DS compared to a DS, I'm just curious as I'm a DS owner who i constantly tempted to enter the house that 3DS built...so to peak.

Well if anything, it's a little worse. The upscale on the screen is bad, the proper resolution is too small and looks janky, and the battery of the 3DS is poor in comparison to the DS and worse with c-gear enabled (assuming that's in this game as well), so all things considered, you should be encouraged to play it on the DS.
