Bakuman's 154k number is sum of all 7 days of the week. AC sold 121k in just THREE DAYS. Not to mention all first prints have been sold out within the first five days. This happens because oricon only counts through every Sunday. Bakuman v1 was released on a Monday, thus had the entire week counted. Assassination Classroom v1 was released on a Friday, so only the weekend was counted. So yes, I would say AC exceeded Bakuman by a fair margin.

Aaaaand with the second week oricon numbers out, I was completely right. *commence boasting*
Assassination Classroom volume 1 sold 208k copies in first 10 days. By comparison, Bakuman volume 1 sold 192k copies in first 14 days. See? See? As for Toriko, the first week was 69k in 6 days, and 2nd week it was off the top 30 (less than 22k) So at most 80-90k over 13 days.

Oh yeah, meant to address this earlier:

Well.... to be honest, I wasn't really sure. Admittedly I did kinda think he was just a generic agent when I first saw him, but it did become evident soon enough that he had SOME kind of defense training. I just wasn't sure if it was military, though. But hey, at least it's cleared up now! Anyway, I managed to sneak a peek at the raw for chapter 20: Spoiler for chapter 20:

Hookers lie about their age all the time.

All three of them are equally ridiculous, but a real fight between Saiki and Koro-sensei would end with Earth being destroyed, regardless of who won.

Oh yeah, that reminds me: I actually read that crossover comic (yeah, it's been translated, guys)! I'm unsure if that Saiki guy's series is being translated, though. If it is, I'll be sure to check it out sometime, since he seems like an amusing fellow. But for the moment, I'm still more interested in the octopus vs. super-baldy fight. |
