The full episode is out now.
The episode begins with Maine and an introduction of her life. There's a somewhat joke of her being short. We also meet Turi from the first episode and in general, it's a rather slice of life-ish episode. Eva also shows up too and she seems to have a good relationship with her. Maine reminds me a little of Latina from UchiMusume the previous season although she has a love for books and reading. The animation quality looks okay to me, not a fan of it but could work for this anime.

Man, Maine/Myne really was such a brat for being an adult when she died; crying over books but not over never seeing her mom again/making her mom sad because she died due a book shelf falling on her because she was careless, being so insensitive about her olders Sister stuff asking to break it, complaining about her family's poverty when they are probably not even really poor given her dad is a soldier at the gate, not realizing how much work she put on Turi gor having to bring a full bukcet of water 5 floors up each day just to get wiped and ofc freaking out over dead chicken, like come on, girl, you see that stuff in malls all the time at the butcher sell-stand.
But hey, she's a cute loli, so being a selfish brat for starters is fine and just means that there is lots of room for her to grow. Like accepting her situation or not being so obsessed by books and start to live for something else as well, like her new family. But given what the guy at the start said and how Myne decided to make books herself, I doubt that gonna be the case. Well, as long as she doesn't kill for books, it's okay I guess.

The biggest issue for me is new Myne not sparing a single thought for what happened to the person who's body she is inhabiting! Took a moment to feel for her own mother. But didn't think too much that she's effectively stolen Myne from that girl's parents and sister. A fairly self-centered person.
The chicken thing was weird. I could see freaking out a bit over seeing the chicken being butchered. But did she never go to the grocery store? Maybe she was so insanely obsessive over books that all she did was read and just expected her mother and others to cook and provide meals for her. There is certainly room to grow though. Will see how this character matures or if she doesn't mature at all.

While I will never fault someone for enjoying books and wanting to read, Myne's obsession with finding books gives her tunnel vision and causes her to act like a brat. Interested in seeing how she matures from her.

Meh. I was semi-interested in this because I was somewhat familiar with the manga and thought with the right direction this could be decent, but that was bland as hell. Couldn't even finish the episode.

I thought it was odd Urano didn't spare a thought for the little girl whose body she hijacked. What even happened to the real Myne?
Anyway, an Isekai with a female protagonist is always nice. I liked that they showcased the downsides (at least some of them) of living in a medieval society, something that pretty much never happens in Isekai anime. Somehow protagonists adjust immediately.

Interesting setup, though, like everyone, I've been wondering what happened to the little girl whose body she's inhabiting?
Myne isn't a bookworm. I'm a bookworm (though I don't really care for that term.), I read more than 17 novels in the last couple of months. Myne is a book FANATIC. Her obsession is honestly not healthy, and she's actually kind of a bit of brat. How did she get to adulthood with that kind of tunnel vision? Considering her rather broad reading habits (and the fact that she's actually an adult trapped in a preschooler's body), she should know enough history to take a good guess as to what kind of world, culture, and people she has been reborn into. I will forgive her a little though, as I'm pretty sure even we would be a bit "challenged" by such a world, even though we know the history of it. I mean, we're used to pasteurized and refrigerated food and drink, food and drug safety standards, full-scale sanitary measures, most of us non-rural folks rarely see farm animals and probably have never seen one killed (I haven't). So, to suddenly be thrust into a world that no longer has indoor plumbing or full-scale sewage system, having food that is being sold out in the sun, people who do not bath very often, that can be very hard for anyone to get used to in such a short amount of time. I'd say we're looking at a pseudo-Europe, pre-Renaissance but post-Medieval. Those tall, dull, wooden townhouses scare me. That's just a great fire, waiting to happen. If Myne has read and studied the right books, she can revolutionize this world, starting with "inventing" the printing press. Mr. Gutenberg would be proud. Allowing literature to reach the masses, will change the entire social climate. Plus, if she can get her mind off books for one second, she will be able to do a lot more than that.

It was hard to believe that a world can exist without the knowledge of what a book or writing is, when the numbers appear I was sure that books had to exist, but the setting is like the old time, too expensives and only nobles can affort it.
for the opening this looks like more slice of life than the typical isekai that is to beat the demond lord, I hope is like that. |
