I had heard DC was teaming up with Japanese anime studios to try to expand their market, but I was expecting like... Superman, Green Lantern, and Batman. Not Suicide Squad.

Will this be the new idea of DC after everything that happened with "The Flash"?, I don't know whose idea it was but I will say; "well thought!". I wonder if in time we will see other DC characters like Batman or Catwoman... well, wait for more news!.

... and although it's named Suicide Squad, based on the trailer it's about the Joker and Harley.

Didn't expect to see this. Trailer looks good and I do like Suicide Squad so yeah this has my attention.

Harley is insanely popular and Suicide Squad has gotten a lot of cachet recently, especially when it comes to offshoots like Peacemaker.

Makes sense to work with that.

Because it's like only DCU movie in recent years that didn't flop? It's basicaly Mandalorian of DCU.

I assume they went with the Squad because "Supervillain Black Ops team gets Isekaied" stands out more than normal Superheroes getting transported to another world...because that's just another Tuesday for them

Honestly what stands out to me more (other than the Akira Amano designs or the animation) is they got Tappei Nagatsuki (Re:Zero) to write it.

It also looks very Joker/Harley centric but they might not want to spoil who the other members of the Squad are.

Well, color me surprised it didn't flop.

I've always been under the impression the majority of people couldn't care less about the Suicide Squad. Peacemaker was the stand out character of the second movie and his show was really good though, so I'm happy that he's going to be in it if Harley's pin on the key visual is any indication.

This is not something I expected, but I guess we'll see how it goes. Wonder which other members of the squad will get used considering the trailer was Harley and Joker centric.

Scriptwriters seems to be the two who did Vivy Fluorite Eye's Song, Nagatsuki Tappei and Eiji Umehara. They did well at least with Vivy so I'm kinda optimistic. Still, Suicide Squad and isekai aren't the words I thought would see together but here we are. Though given that it's the Suicide Squad, there's a lack of other characters besides Harley and the Joker. There's Amanda Waller at least so we'll see who else gets isekai'd with the two clowns and what the hell they will do in another world.

For me it's the opposite actually.

I hated Vivy plot. It was all over the place (and I am not a big fun of ReZero plot twists in the lattrr arcs either). So this is the most concerning part here for me.

The Suicide Squad mega-flopped, it's just the only movie recently that was critically well-received. Still no idea why they won't let this dumb franchise go. I love DC but I'd have picked so many other ideas first.

Again because noone gonna watch superman or Flash anymore and there is no way they would bet on lesser known IP now that flagships are sinking. Do you expect them taking risks instead milking establied IPs to their deaths?

Also while you right it didn't perfomed well in cinemas, it is most streamed dcu movie up to date (and second most viewed movie that premiered simultaneously on the streaming service and in theaters of all time).

The movie underperformed yes (though the pandemic has it's share of blame for that) but it did extremely well on HBO Max.

Plus unlike Superman, Batman, etc, they have more leeway with the characters.
