I was eating yogurt today and suddenly I thought of this show. I couldn't help thinking of the yogurt as full of cute bacteria bouncing around and calling out to me in chipper voices.

... live yogurt cultures... I wonder what the yogurt would look like to Sawaki.

Guess that would depend on where the yogurt is from.

If it's acting polite and honorable and bowing....it's from Japan

or what brand/type as I suppose lite yogurt may ware high heals?

They already showed Yogurt culture in the first episode.

Cheers.

More revolting 'food'. Memo to self: If ever invited to South Korean celebration, feign vegetarianism.

It occurred to me that if the DVDs do NOT include scratch'n'sniff cards, someone is really missing a trick!

I wonder how many people may be inspired by this episode to try home-brew sake? Who says anime can't be educational?

It's a statement like this that could stop me from eating my food.

I hope someone gets me a P Chrysogenum for Xmas! (And I don't mean just a piece of mouldy bread....) (although the latter is more likely, unless pigs have started sprouting feathery appendages)

Here a question to baffle our brains while we wait for the next episode:

If yeast is used in the production of alcohol, then can we get drunk if we ate fermented bread dough that had sugar in the original mixture?

Nope definitely not. There is already sugar in the original mixture...It's part of the whole fermentation process. It is true that sugar would be converted to alchohol and CO2.But because this process takes a short amount of time, so,only a small amount of alcohol would be formed. And even so,after the baking process, all the alcohol would be evaporated.

Hope it helps.

what if you use a tonne of yeast and let it ferment and eat it without baking the bread?

on another note...

Jeez, I wish someone makes an anime for Physics or chemistry and make it as entertaining as Moyashimon. How about an anime series with the 112 known elements? It'd take a helluvalong time to do, a helluvalotta work to do, but it could be as amusing as Moyashimon =)

Could or could not be. It will really take a lot of time to even think of a story

anyway, ep. 4 is out.

Alcohol is pretty fragile in the whole making of dishes, because as soon as you add heat alcohol boils off really quick. One good example is a Chinese dish where you get a hotpot full of lager and it is heated up with herbs and raw chicken is added and you fish the Chicken out and eat it when it is cooked. Once you have finished eating you drink the soup which is pretty yummy and tastes nothing like lager. Now I've seen non drinkers go red and get tipsy after drinking the soup, but it must be psychological because the ~4% alcohol would have easily boiled off in the cooking process.

I liked the way Sawaki says that he can't eat raw food

I suppose if you wrapped it up in cling film to stop the alcohol evaporating off as leonmagekyou pointed out, but also you would need to find some way of bleeding the CO2 off safely as well.

Our first year halls stank really badly coz we tried to make home brew in bottles and they just popped half way through the process spraying out everywhere. Thank god it wasn't in my room

This show just gets better. They temper the parts which are vaguely educational with mad comedy and sheer grossness.

Spoiler for ep. 4:

Episode 04: I didn't think this show could be anymore disgusting after that scene in the first episode, though cow anus? Poor Sawaki...

Super awesome professor jump in the air was great.

I didn't know the soundtrack was being released so early, November 28th.
