I've seen a timeframe of 2014 being bandied about, which makes sense as A-1 needs to get the LNs finished before they can adapt.

Certainly worthy the title "Best Anime 2012".

I was a little expecting to see something plotting about the next arc, GGO.

Knew Sugou was affected by his PK.

Kirito still a hardcore gamer, with him getting back Aincrad.

it had some boring parts in the middle, and it had huge plot holes (specifically during the final battle with kayaba in SAO) but in the end it was worth it.

it wasn't perfect, but it kept me entertained for the most part.

The episode was great as a anime ending, but I thought that the thing with Sugou trying to kill Kirito would last a bit more than 2 minutes.

What can I say? It's your regular open ending. Not strong, not weak either.

Words can't describe how much I appreciate and love this anime, from the story of the LN, to the delivery of the anime. This became my fav anime by far and I highly doubt something can come along and beat it. I got pretty emotional when they showed the sao version of kirito and asuna. Even though the idea is cliche nowadays, this time it's still so meaningful and symbolic that you can't help but feel good inside.

Spoiler:

I'm such a huge support of kirito x asuna that I honestly wouldn't mind at all if the second season's just called Asuna and Kirito's Daily Life. For some reason I just can't get tired of watching them together, completely diff from how i feel about other anime relationship.

Alas, until the second season come out, i'm gonna have to get sao merchandise like no others to keep me happy in the mean time. Speak of which, anyone seen this Asuna figure that just came out on preorder? it's damn beautiful

If you are thinking 2014 will be enough for the LN to end, I'm sorry to disappoint.

The next 2 arcs are available for animation, but the last arc, Alicization, will run for a very very long time by the rate the LNs are coming out.

I don't think there is any need for them to wait for the light novels are finished or anything (there is plenty of material), but any production takes time to coordinate. It's probably that the studio and many of the key staff are already committed to working on other shows in the months ahead, so they have to book it. It takes many months of planning before they even start animating a show (and months after that until the first episode is ready).

Anyway, this is a topic that is probably better reserved for one of the speculation threads.

They would need to plan for a longer then 1 year season for more novel material to be released, so no need to wait for that reason. But it will take at least half a year before the next season simply due to the time it takes to schedule stuff. But it's a sure thing that there will be more seasons as SAO is the best seller of this season by a huge margin and with plenty of material left, so would it be madness for them not to keep it going.

I hoped they could show more about the inner thinking of Kirito when Suguo was about to kill him.

so we got vol 1 to 4 animated. Hope we get the next season for bullet and rosario act. Then 2 season for Alicization.

Kirito had a bit of a lost in translation (the movie) moment at the end of the episode, wonder what the heck he said.

What a nice/perfect finish to a nice/perfect series.

The possibilities of season 2 are endless.

(I took this out of spoiler tags for the reply, because it doesn't involve any spoilers from either of us.)

I think she's acting like she's embarrassed (which maybe she is a tiny bit -- him a lot more so), but later on in that same scene she moves way over to lean on his shoulder (which is a lot more embarrassing than holding hands), so I think she isn't really that concerned. After the first incident she does her whole "wow that mistake just cost you your lunch, Mister" *one eye to see his reaction* thing she often does, so I tend to think she's just giving him a hard time.
