New interview up
At least the developers seem to know what DMC is about.

That's was posted in the capcom forums
Toughen him up? Like wasn't tough already...... Tons of design which lead to look like the chief designer. >_> Iconic character doesn't mean you take off the white hair. It's not his Jacket that makes him iconic it's his hair along with it. Also they're trying now to mix it with the current DMC story, then why announce this as a reboot?!

You know, I keep thinking about how NT is trying to appeal to "disenfranchised youth" of today (PFFT~), while completely spitting at the established fanbase; how much of this rebellious youth (pfft) is going to give a damn about this game? I doubt that if they never cared about the series before, this idiotic appeal to them is going to change their minds.
"Oh, he's so TRENDY and MYSTERIOUS!! And he SMOKES! HE"S JUST LIKE ME!" And if their target audience don't give a flying fuck, who do they have to fall back on? Not the fanbase, who NT has just punched in the balls. Granted, there will be the couple people who will buy to try, but the rest of the hardcore will wait for some feedback. If the gameplay is there, then a fair amount will also buy it. I doubt it though. I really doubt it, now that we've heard their design philosophy and what they are to do with the series; even if they were to attempt to replicate the combat system, they don't have the proven ability to do so. wut? |

Mainly because I'm not afraid with change, even if this one turned as shite, sure as hell Capcom would try to "reset" it.
I'd think DmC need something new to refresh the boredom, no matter how shite that is, even if they fail , fans would miss the old spirit of DmC. N Refresh the fandom excitement in next installment. But if this move put the franchise into graveyard its not like gaming world fucked too lol Just admit it, in 4th series they're kinda stuck with same shit all over again. Forgot to add this. Just my 2 cents, sorry if I offense other fans, this topic kinda sensitive.

I too like things to change. Change can indeed be a GOOD thing. It can also be a HORRIBLE thing if you don't know what needs to be changed in the first place, which these guys don't. It's not just the hair; with what we've seen of combat cinema, what they are portraying is far from the over-the-top combo system that is FUNDAMENTAL to anything DMC. That's what's worrisome. Change for the sake of change means nothing. And its easy to say it won't affect anything if it fails, but it will. It's a waste of money and resources on Capcom's part, not to mention the blotched reputation of one of their bigger franchises. The Devil May Cry fighting system is great, but can always be improved; and if it ever gets retired early because of this, that'll never happen. If they do try again, then Capcom would REALLY need a reboot, in the right sense of the word. |

In the original DMC games where was over the top action gameplay which many enjoyed. HS has a different gameplay, it's good, but you cannot enjoy it like the gameplay of the old DMC titles since they don't play the same. I tell you this will be a GOW, GTA DmC. Also a note for the NT. WATCH YOUR MOUTH!!! Whenever they comment on the old school DMC games and Dante it's always bad. Just DAMN!

Old School DMC Dante is not cool, then Japanesy, then they changed reboot to canon prequel vice versa depending on the interviews and now this! His clothing, didn't they know DMC2 had alternate clothes designed from DISEL? An inirect blow to that clothing line. This just piles up like like rotten filthy SHIT!!!

My my so dude's been pushed against the wall hard enough that he's changing his original statement of the game being a REBOOT into now being part of "canon"?
Ha does anyone else find this laugh out loud funny? However combined with that and his claims that "since this is an origin story, DmC's Dante will evolve over the course of the game, so the Dante seen in the trailer won't be the same Dante on the screen for the entire game. ", I think the game has gotten a bit more tolerable IMO. The gameplay just has to be able to hold it's own and honestly I'm still very worried about Ninja theory being in change of that element of the game...
