Aren't XBox One games supposed to sell for 80 bucks? Sheesh.

i dont know. my Xbox 360 got RROD sometime ago. i dont trust the quality of this system at all.
Our first 360 went RROD several times. We saved it with the "towel of heat" solution each time. Finally, I hit a sale price and store credit for a "lastest version" 360 which has behaved wonderfully for a couple of years now with daily use (keep it on cool tile and good airflow).

I see no reason to buy or recommend an XBox One at the present. None. I won't even bother to do a bullet list on why but even the current title offerings constitute largely a "so what?".

Any particular reason they're making it a whole 160 bucks more expensive in europe?

My guess is: they are taking a bigger hit on the hardware on the US because they feel like they'll get that cash back on XBox Live subscription and other value added services that are unavailable in Europe. That and taxes.

Because the euro has more value than the dollar. Which means that the relative price is about the same. That's basic economics. But my wisdom in that area is exhausted with that already.

That's not how it works. Just because the euro is a stronger currency that doesn't mean that people earn more money, it just means that the currency is worth more. Theoretically it would mean being able to buy more stuff with less money, not the other way around. But marketing likes to use the same round number everywhere.

Because the currency is worth more, our spending power is stronger in direct comparison, which is why the console's price in Europe can be 500 as well. Isn't that how it works?

It seems like everything is just more expensive in Europe in general, not just for electronics. I don't know how you Europeans deal with those kind of prices.

Not really. We have to pay more taxes so our buying power is either the same or even lower. And given all the imbalances in the eurozone plenty of smaller countries end up with significant diminished buying power. If you live in Germany, France or the UK you can probably afford a 500 euros console. If you live in Spain, Ireland or here in Portugal... yeah, not so easy.

Valve got that and tried going for tired pricing. That's unfair for other reasons though.

Okay, thanks for the lesson then. ^^
But one thing's clear, Microsoft gets more out of their console sales in Europe than in the US.

Having just watched the latest Angry Joe video on the One...

Did MS seriously cancel it's post-E3 roundtable? WOW...

They still have all the interviews with developers and what not, but all possible discussion of Xbone policy has been cancelled - both roundtables and 1 on 1s. Microsoft doesn't have their messaging in place so we won't know more until August.

(We will be getting more leaked information before then)

Killer Instinct is the only game i'm looking forward to. i'm very sad that it's coming to xbox one only though.

oh well, and $500 is still too much for me...for a system that has mountains of DRMs.

Ugh, the only game I'm going to suffer missing for abstaining from Xbone is Crimson Dragon. Spiritual successor to one of my favorite series ever.

Screw you, Microsoft. You could've put it on 360 too, as originally planned, but noooo.

The person doing the leaking had a great track record, so I don't think that was ever in doubt. As a result, there wasn't a single major surprise announcement from Microsoft other than $499.
