I really hope they do a third season. Theres so much they havnt covered. Specifically the last two hives in Karlsland and Orussia. That and I would really like to see the following witches make an appearance:
1) Adolphine Galland 2) Gundula Rall 3) Elizabeth Beurling 4) Catherine O'Hare I really hope though at some point they do something, even a short OVA, covering Africa (After reading the manga I REALLY want to see Rommel make it into Strike Witches) But maybe if they do something with Karlsland there will be a better chance of seeing him make an appearance. Though I am glad they finally added ground war in with the movie (Tigers!) cant wait to see Funimation pick that up. Quote:

If I am not mistaken, the movie is released today in Japan. Where I am, it's still Thursday, but it's nearly noon in Japan. I look greatly forward to acquiring my copy... come on UPS!

Just finished the movie it was pretty good the ending kind of became predictable but oh well, still loved it anyways I hope this gets licensed as well. Learning Japanese paid off since only the Raw Version is out but I bet some one will sub it. At least the movie picks up right after season 2 and at the end it says to be continued so expect at least another movie maybe season with the 501'st.
Now I have to reorder the first season on Blu-Ray since I finally broke down and got a new Hi-Def TV and a Blu-Ray after all this time, then it's off to getting rid of the first season DVD set. |

I've finished the movie now, as well, and I find the movie's strongest points to be the visuals. In fact, the art and animation was what first persuaded me to take up the series to begin with It's a fitting extension of the TV series, even if some elements are derivative.

It's pretty much more of what we've seen in the series. Decent movie, predictably plot and equally predictable ending. Best parts for me were the history lesson and the cameo's of the many non-501st witches.
But still... no land witches. I know I said I already knew the chances were low, but... damn. I had really hoped to see some land witches, even if only for a few seconds. Last edited by Keroko; 2012-10-30 at 17:33. |

Hell yeah! Magic-less Yoshika was pretty badass in her own right.
Little error I had a good chuckle with: Minna pointing out one Hive is over Nürnberg but she marks Ingolstadt instead. Lot's of fanservice... Not only the panty kind but also we see lot's of other witches from the novels and we even see for the first time in Strike Witches (and for me anime in general) the replacing of an overheated MG42 barrel. Not bad at all.

I'm watching the movie again... and it gave me tears. Tears to remember how much fun this series really was -- despite re-watching season 1 and 2 a couple weeks ago.
Seriously. This series makes WAR look like fun. And it's not just because of the pantslessness.
