The styles are quite different, they are similar as well, but that's only because they were drawn by the same person and Ryukishi doesn't seem extremely artistically gifted. owo;

I've seen them before, I personally don't have a copy of the sprite sheets though (hopefully somebody else does)... I can only try and find screenshots...

I personally think that style looks like a mix between both Higurashi and Umineko styles. :3

I think that people are overanalyzing Higurashi based on Umineko. Hanyuu being a weak god isn't surprising; don't forget that Shinto is an animistic religion and so it has vast numbers of gods, which in western terms might be characterized more as spirits, of a local areas that are supposed to have very limited powers. A god isn't supposed to have vast cosmic powers if it's just the god of a small village.
Boku is a pronoun meant to be used by boys and young men; a girl using it is quite atypical. By using it Rika falls into the 'little girl who doesn't know how to talk properly' territory which she does to be cute. When she's serious she uses a correct pronoun to refer to herself, as does Hanyuu. |

Rika: ボク; Hanyuu: 僕. When Rika uses 'boku', it's written in katakana (in the VNs), why is this? Also... Spoiler for Onikakushi-hen (VN):
