In Higurashi there's more emphasis on the shading and the eyes. Umineko has different shading techniques, the eyes aren't as detailed, the hair is a lot less detailed, and the style all together is a bit more serious. The characters' heads in Umineko aren't as disproportionately large as they are in Higurashi, and the men aren't shaped as oddly (looking at Tomitake).

The styles are quite different, they are similar as well, but that's only because they were drawn by the same person and Ryukishi doesn't seem extremely artistically gifted. owo;

D'you have a copy of Keiichi's and Hanyuu's sprite sheets? I'm curious now...

I've seen them before, I personally don't have a copy of the sprite sheets though (hopefully somebody else does)... I can only try and find screenshots...

Spoiler for Group with Keiichi:

Spoiler for Hanyuu and Satoko screeshot:

I know that 07th Expansion has a Keiichi sprite on the site, but unfortunately the site is down at the moment. =/

I like the original art,it's adorable. It really gives off that innocent look.

Spoiler for Another question:
When i start thinking about it...maybe when you play the game and start to be more familiar with the art style, they will appear to be cuter (1st time i watched Kanon, i was like: "they have bigger eyes than Doraemon...")

Anyway we should not go so far with the discussion in this thread

For your question...my guess (yeah it's a guess)is.....
Spoiler for Rika:

I think he used Umineko's art to draw for Higuraghi too.
As my avatar...

That was drawn by Ryukishi? Hmm... it doesn't look too far from his style at all, so I can believe that. ^^

I personally think that style looks like a mix between both Higurashi and Umineko styles. :3

I think that people are overanalyzing Higurashi based on Umineko. Hanyuu being a weak god isn't surprising; don't forget that Shinto is an animistic religion and so it has vast numbers of gods, which in western terms might be characterized more as spirits, of a local areas that are supposed to have very limited powers. A god isn't supposed to have vast cosmic powers if it's just the god of a small village.

Spoiler for Rika:
Boku is a pronoun meant to be used by boys and young men; a girl using it is quite atypical. By using it Rika falls into the 'little girl who doesn't know how to talk properly' territory which she does to be cute. When she's serious she uses a correct pronoun to refer to herself, as does Hanyuu.

Hmm, but that still doesn't answer my question...
Rika: ボク; Hanyuu: 僕. When Rika uses 'boku', it's written in katakana (in the VNs), why is this?

Also...
