The color seems a bit too mono. I think you should add a few more striking colors to the image. -- I like this one much better than the other one, thingle ^^, Clean and simple. Though I do feel the background seems a bit "bland", other than the bloodsplatters.

I like it! (and Riker's addition made it better) I think the bg face does work, but needs its contrast lowered so that it doesn't steal the focus from the sword.

I prefer the one with colors, but since everyone else seems to be saying that they prefer the uncolored version you should probably go with that. To me the colors don't detract from the combat feeling nor the emphasis on the eyes. I can't explain why but it feels like it adds to the image. I still like the other version, as well.
I just noticed this now, but there's a red line (in the shape of a tilted ^ [carot]) on her sword. When the lightning goes through, the red thickens and almost becomes an X. I'd imagine that's unintentional? If you can't find it, go from the shadow of her neck and trace over to the sword to be at the level of the mysterious red marking.

Found a way to fix the blood coloring. Duplicate the original blood layer twice. Put the first one on overlay at 5x% and the second one at color burn/linear burn 40-50%.
Play around with it and it'll eventually get a more realistic tone. |

Contestants please check to make sure I have you on the list. Also, while the feedback and response has been great, this thread is starting to get a bit large to filter through. So to make this part stand out... Contestants, when you have decided on your final entry, please mark your entry post with Official Entry. If the due date passes and I do not see this tag next to any of your signatures, I will remove your name and entry from this months voting period. That should be noticeable enough.

Now that's one good looking sig!
I wonder if it would be possible to increase the image quality and dimensions a bit? The size is 40374 bytes and the height is 100 pixels, so you should have a bit of room to manuever, no?

And on top of that, I use Adobe Photoshop 6.0, so I don't know if any of this differs from CS users. x.x
