Finally watched 24. One hell of a lot of people died on both sides. We finally saw fire girl from the begining of the show.

Yes, I agree w/ this point... I thought it was a major mistake when Amba unfroze Amagiri's in episode 16... my non-scientific type friends even jumped all over that 1, especially as Amber made a point of "time-travel" being "all alone."

For that egg, I think they can't bring anything with them when teleporting? So I figure that's Amber's egg and she put the egg in Amagiri's hand, maybe that egg has something to do with Amagiri retaining memories of the future?

I think Mao is trapped inside the gate, just like Hei, Yin and Bai. Bai's star did not fall, so I guess she re-incarnated somehow into Hei, but re-incarnation is not my religion, so I'll need help w/ that 1. Maybe, Mao's gate incarnation is just a cat, would fit Bones' bitterness. I don't think Yin, Mao, Bai or Hei talk a lot anyway. I think Hei is the "big talker" of that group, mostly to Bai, and I am not even going down that road.

Amber is literally eternal no? A woman friend of mine remembered that from our trip to St. Petersburg... Meaning Amber is out this equation.

I think Misao is really Misaki in disguise.

Now to the reason I decided to post tonight, aside from this awful ESPN Sports Center and not wanting to listen to Lovey Smith state "Rex Grossman is our quarterback for the future" ugghhh and then TO, double ugghhh, bet the TO w/ great attitude doesn't last long.

Spoiler for Wild Wild Guess on Hei's identity, my money is still on Hei being Venetian:

Huang last word to Hei, I believe was something in Italian. I think it was something like you are the light, the light of my life, something like that. Would make sense with the conversation back and forth with Hei killing Huang's cig light and would be nasty sarcastic in an ironic sort of way. Good to see Huang go out with such a remark, as Huang's "new good attitude" makes me queasy.
I think Hei is something like this:
Doge Henricus Dandalo was the leader of the Fourth Crusade, and Dandalo was buried in Constantinople, in a Catholic Church, but now it is Istanbul and the Hagia Sophia, seems like Hei will be "buried" in an "odd state." And, Dandalo was or was not blind which would match Hei's solid light blue iris' most of the time.

Maybe it was something sexist after all, meaning Bai is female and shouldn't do such things, just remembered creepy Hei in the bathroom w/ Misaki/Misao saying something like "you poor dear" and Hei's violent attitude towards Amber in episode 16. I would not read anything good into that, like the Black Grim Reaper Death God does not agree with killing etc, probably more of a double standard. Maybe, that is why Hei dumped Mai in episode 4, too bad as Hei found the stone flowers that she needed in episode 9, but Hei gave those stone flowers to the organization also.

Maybe -1 -1 = -2, or I guess 2 divided by 0... Well, I guess Hei & Amber go hand in hand, I think the Amber Amagiri Egg = Hei & Desu/Maki smile protector amulet = you've just been played. She needed Amagiri's confidence in order to complete the Amber mission (see Episode 25).

Yes, it seems like that to me, especially it seems Hei is eternally fighting Wei for "some reason." Yeah, thinking about your question, there was also Havoc/Carmine bizarre torture session. Who else, Alice Wang. Hei let Wei kill her.

Spoiler for Mina - Episode 11 & 12 Brain MeltDown:

Hei & Mina, Mina loved Hei loved Mina.
Hei berates Mina the whole time and Mina states that she knows kind contractors, but that was Nick, who turns out to be some sort of insane Dr. Kevorkian type who unfortunately believes Matthew Looney books are based on reality or something and then we find out Hei does also, as he does see Nick rocketing off with his sister (shared insanity?).
Hei snuck out, but blamed Sergei first for something or other but Hei finds out that Sergei is the 1 who will protect Mina.
Bonus:
Hei thought he saw Yin, but Yin could not get surveillance specter inside the gate (from Episode 24), but Hei gave Yin candy and said Thank You, Bai.
And doesn't Hei know exactly what happened to Bai as this was the last image that Hei saw of Bai? I can see Amber handing that meteor fragment/lense to Hei at the end and Hei throwing out his smile amulet memory in exchange.

Didn't Hei say something in reference to the above picture: "Contractors always seek more power." Maybe, that is what Amber promised Bai when Amber handed Bai the meteor fragment/lense, and next she will promise Hei that he will be able to see Bai again if he takes the meteor fragment/lense. Hei was also there when it happened, right? Just like Havoc/Carmine who would not remember what happened either. Wow, that is why Hei did not ask Havoc/Carmine what happened to his sister, when Havoc/Carmine regained her memories. Hei knows/knew and would not remember either, that's why Hei probably has this recurring running away fantasy.
The organization also knows who Hei is, kept Hei around as Hei was of great use to the organization, and the organization probably had the kill order out for team Hei long ago that was predicated to the "SunSpot" re-occurrence critical time. That would explain why Team Hei is a group of misfits, as opposed to an elite squad as was promo'd on page 1, the organization would need the elite squads to wipe out team Hei at that point.
I don't think any of the above precludes the fact that Amber loves Hei, that part seems real to me, how she setup Yin and Mao to follow/keep company Hei to hell where Bai is waiting for her beloved brother.

Hei liked the Eureka doll though, hum mm. Hei likes Misaki, but Misaki never seems to accomplish anything.

But, I also have a personal viewpoint (file under postmortem):
I don't like Hei, I despised Hei from the first second he appeared. 2 reasons why this show interested me from that first second:
1) The show is obviously 100% about Hei and I hate Hei, which is interesting to me. Like Spike & CowBoy BeBop.
2) I knew with this show I could watch it with my women friends as I correctly predicted that about 100% of them would like Hei. But their second favorite character is usually Misaki, which I'm OK with.

Which leads me to an interesting point from this weekend, a woman friend said to me, "What do you think about the relationship between Hei & Bai (from episode 23). I don't like it." Well, my response was, it creeped me out, I turned the TV off and put on Sirius satellite Radio. I didn't watch that episode in full, even now, maybe after 25. The last time I had that reaction was in the BSG miniseries when the Six Cylon snapped the babies neck: they went to commercial, and I came back 2 weeks later. I said I don't like Hei, so it is not the big deal to me. The comeback from the woman friend was this: "Well, I still like Hei anyway". Me- grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
That's why I never bothered much in analyzing Hei, except to myself.



P.S. From team Hei:
Yin reminds of my sister, so I like Yin.
I like the fact the Mao is pretty much 100% consistent and everything Mao says seems to make sense, especially when Mao told Huang to shoot Shihoko. I bet the fact that Mao is a cat and is the most rational of that group serves as some sort of an inside joke.

Here is how I think the Hei story should end: Hei should re-incarnate into a giant black bat, as he is probably bat#$% crazy. And there would be the sequel, Hei the Vampire.
And I would watch it.

Ambers obedience is that she gets younger every time she uses her powers right?
She was quite the kid at the end of ep 24.
I'm interested in Bai and really hope there will be some story developed around here.

When it comes to the ending I've no idea. I kinda get the whole happy ending feel out of this show, I think Amber will die but not so sure Hei will.

is it 25 or 26 eps?

misaki is the best character in the show, the reason i watch it actually. she at least puts up a front, at being a feminist figure. teh way things go in most animus, the girls are all sorts of fucking docile and we rarely see them with any idealistic vision or take on initiative roles...oh fuck. so the wait for feminist animu continues.

Pronounciation in chinese : kanji : color in english : (pronounciation of the kanji in Japanese)
Hei = 黒 = black (kuro)
Pai = 白 = white (shiro)
Yin = 銀 = silver (gin)
Huang = 黄 = yellow (ki)
Mao = 猫 = cat (neko)

Carmine (Havoc) = crimson red
Amber = Amber

With the exception of Mao, everyone in the organization are coded after color.

Nope

DTB : Yin's kanji is 銀 (silver)

Yin-Yang : Yin's kanji is 陰 (darkness, feminity, passive)

they are different, albeit in chinese religion, the element of metal (which silver is part of) does represent the Yin element in Yin-Yang, and interestingly, the element of wood (which amber is part of) represents the Yang element in Yin-Yang. But I doubt the animators are intentional on this.

Also, there wasn't exactly much point for Mao to go to the gate, was there? If he 'died' because the scientists finally caught up with his hacking (or the Syndicate somehow figured out another way to pull the plug), sure, but if it was proximity to the gate, that's just a pointless death.
