As a PSO2 player, I really like the direction of first episode.
Unexpected ton of blood, the sense of emergency and how much Darker threat can be
( which "The Animation failed horribly )

That was certainly bloody. It's the level of valkyria chronicles ova & anime with the blood & death.

The shot on Female Hunter Newman Head yikes.

Wonder will they get revived with a Moon Atomizer.

I thought that was a strong premiere. There are plenty of mysteries and I really like that. The setting is interesting and it was a lot more bloody than I was expecting. I'm disappointed the brown cutie got killed, and so gruesomely to boot. I actually liked her design better than that of the heroines

Really nice to see this back again.

I really enjoyed the 1st episode.

New arc, new characters and new mystery.

Very dark start as well, quite the massacre to begin things off with, definitely separated itself from the original series by doing that.

Well this is actually "original series" that lead to previous anime title timeline (a side story compare to episode Oracle)
If you watch "The Animation" again you will notice a lot of face here but it is not advise to do so at this moment as it contained a lot of spoilers

I lknow nothing about the series, but first episode was pretty decent. Yeah call this was original adapted from the game, but the narrative flows naturally enough without feeling too gamey for the most part. Tho I could done without that chessy fist-fighter guy.

As long Gonzo keep the production values for the rest of the series at the same level as first episode this will be an enjoyable ride, no doubt about it, only problem I see is that even with 25 episodes Gonzo will need to compress/discard much content to cover all Oracle arc.

Other problem is with funimation translation, even if you don't understand Japanes, you can hear the enemies being called Daka/Darker , not falzspawn, and Seana for Shina? please ...

btw, if you wonder why mc was able to do all that damage to enemies:

Edit: Just an afterthought, I'm the only one who gets Minami-ke flashbacks every time Matoi face shows in the infirmary scene?

Informant duo Patty and Tea ( also appear in previous anime )
Crazy Cast(Robot race) Liza
a shady glass ( also appear in previous anime )

So there's no just one but two characters voiced by HanaKana in this show?! Both with a completely different personality too.

It seemed to me her case was different and she was brainwashed by the thing she was looking at in the distance. Her eyes glowed red every time she looked at it. But I guess it could be both, and she got brainwashed by that thing because she had too much Darker energy.

If person can be brainwashed only just by looking at that thing then entire ARKS on Naberius would be wipe out by now so I believe the later part is more accurate.
Or someone that involved in overseer this mission have something in mind, especially how both Ash and Afin included Matoi are not allow to return despite the team leader bring KIA.

I'm confused. Is the council of six that battled the big bad 40 years ago the same as now (meaning members don't age) or simply their predecessors?

The only cure is to go for a medical check once in a while but the character in this episode went berserk and killed before she could return to sanity. In game, this issues didn't affect much on ARKS until halfway to the story. We also got introduced to the Informant duo Patty and Tea ( also appear in previous anime ) Crazy Cast(Robot race) Liza a shady glass ( also appear in previous anime )
