I'm hearing that as far as reception goes, this movie beat out even the likes of Madoka Magica: Rebellion. I might be reading it wrong, but if it's true, that's downright impressive.

My copy of ChouCho's piece of youth album just arrived, and I'm loving both "piece of youth" and "Glory Story". They have a very Strike Witches feel to them

Rebellion's opening weekend saw the movie grossing roughly 400 million yen, more than three times as much.

128 Million is still a respectable number, though.

Did the High School team beat the University team?

Was there any well coordination between commanders of different schools?

Who were the flag tank for each side?

Which characters of the HS side were impressive?

How many times bad situations were overturned?

Did Maho got knocked out by Alice?

Who (High School team) survived to the end of the match?

If it is an elimination match, there is no flag tank on either side. All have to fall for one side to win.

Might have been a bit better if some priority and resources were invested, so we could have watched it in 2014 instead of 2015. 3 years delay between the main series and movie does do some damage and overall they just aren't, at least IMO, putting out enough material to fill the gap.

No questions there. I think that the series was never expected to have taken off to the extent that it did, which is why the planning for releases appears sub-optimal. With that being said, whether or not the movie benefits substantially from 45 minutes of extra material remains an exercise to be completed after the home release comes out. I'm guessing the folks on the other side of the world have been playing things close to the chest with respect to a home release date.

On another note, guess this is the week of stuff arriving: my copy of the Girls und Panzer Der Film OST arrived today.

Spoiler for Soundtrack might be spoiler-y:

I don't think by investing money and putting priority into it is enough to speed up the production for an year, might be changing how the anime industry work will give a better luck in achieving it.

Actually, after so many years, the production time frames of anime is reasonably well established. If you know how much resources you have and the time (20 minutes, 80 minutes or 120 minutes) you have to crank out, you can predict pretty accurately when your movie (or your TV episode) can come out.

So if they have to delay by over a year, it would seem the most likely reason is internal reshuffling of resource priorities.

Weren't it take about half year to make one TV episode if you neglect the parallelism when working on them? Multiplying the amount of time needed to produce might be like adding a few number of weeks on top of it but is mpvie production as tight as TV anime? Plus I don't think it is delayed by over a year as if I remember correctly the first time we hear about this movie is that it said it'll be air in 2014 Winter, and we still haven't reach 2015 winter yet
