Illustrations contained in the 6th volume indicate that some interesting, even dramatic developments will take place, so I hope that in the near future someone will shed some light on them for us ;-)

I'm reserving a place in this thread to read the spoilers from Light Novel

the manga translation is going slow while the Light Novel already sailed too far

Ikta is an interesting MC which might be good at back-line while Yatori would lead the front-line
but I guess it won't be going that smooth yet
About the pairing, Ikta-Yatori is perfect but no development so far in manga

Not sure when ill get to read v7. Ebook has some lag. I got rokka 5 only 1.5 mths later (though not read yet)

anyway torway got great development in v6 and his brothers were not really that much of assholes as thought previously.
V6 ended at an annoying cliffhangar when Ikta just started talking to the PM.

She's the righthand man (or rather, woman) of General Remion. She's one of the top sharpshooters of the country and also Torway's teacher. Before she died, she asked Yatori what was she fighting for. Yatori of course talks about righteousness and duty. She then told Yatori that she's an empty shell, and for herself, she's fighting for the man she loves (General Remion). To me, it's an important loss to the Empire. This in-fighting stuff really sucks. Hope that we don't lose any more good and key people of the Empire's military.

EDIT: Well, she either told Yatori she was an empty shell or that she didnot know what it means to be a woman? Can't recall actually

It's a pity as she was probably a good/lovable character. Was she indeed General Remions lover or was it a one-sided love/admiration? Anyhow, I guess her death will deal a significant blow to the Remion faction (or not?). From this outcome I gather that the rebellion gets stifled in the bud pretty quick (dunno how many days/months passed since the start of the coup d'état) or maybe it was only a fluke that Yatori had the chance to kill her? How are the tides of rebellion forming, i.e. who is winning/losing right now?
Did Yatori had any kind of reaction to that "shell" remark, e.g. did she thought about Ikta in that moment or something?
This time a totally different question, but it was bugging me after reading the scene in the carriage between Inkta and the Princess from volume one; was it ever explained how Yuuka Sankrei (Iktas mother) died?
Sorry for this barrage of questions, curiosity has got the better of me.

Yeah :/ … I really hope that Ikta will save her from this twisted mind-set that her family imposed upon her, but I will be furious if it would only contribute towards her sacrificing herself for him (death).

I like how the chapter showed the Republic soldiers are just good, normal people just doing their job.

It was not explicitly stated whether they were having an affair or it was just 1-sided. Then again, I'm the type of easily bored and overly busy reader that sometimes speed read and filter non crucial info to get to the meat of the plot/action, so I might have missed a thing or two every now and then. Though from the dialogues and interactions I can remember between her and Tel Remion, I'm more inclined to believe the later. It did not seem to me that Tel had any particular display of romantic affection for her.

Ikta mentioned that they had 2 months to resolve the rebellion before Kioka would invade. Can't recall, but probably a month or plus into the rebellion. The problem they had was in finding the emperor and the PM.

The volume started with Remion faction trying to find the PM and rescue the Emperor, and slaying all the nobles. They failed to find the PM and the Emperor, and a team also failed to restrain Marshal Igsem who had the help of his uncle, a 70 year old geezer with only one arm, and things went down for the Remions. Reason being Marshal Sol Igsem can now marshal his forces, and also being unable to find the Emperor puts Tel and co at severe disadvantage. Their original plan was to find the Emperor, rescue him from the clutches of PM and have the Emperor issue a decree that legitimizes what the Remion faction is doing. This will put a dent in Igsem faction morale and the Remion faction can also resolve the infighting before Kioka invades. The Igsems are just too f**king OP, dauntless, and they have the brains to back up their OPness. And too many variables went awry and out of expectation for Tel, most critical one being them unable to find the Emperor.

Ikta and the RSR (Rising Sun Regiment - they actually have another kana name but I'll just use RSR for convenience and easy rememberance) pulled out from the mine area, leaving a bewildered Kioka. But of course, Jean being Jean could already guess what was happening.

Yatori went through a pass and annihilated a prepositioned Remion force with hardly any losses and quickly reached the central region (in 2 weeks?). Sol also promoted her to major, and acting LT Colonel.

Anyhow, Sol and Tel squared off. Tel tried to talk things out with Sol based on their old friendship and failed, with Sol being an Igsem and all. Aside from the Igsem duty and the importance of preserving the integrity of the military and command structure, Sol believed that Tel's policy would not work (Tel wanted the military to be involved in running the country and stuff). Appears RSR and Ikta. Ikta talked for almost 100 pages (mobile version which was probably equal to around 60-70 pages). His purpose was to find common ground between Sol and Tel. In the end, the most important lacking point was that the Emperor was missing. Negotiations stopped and they went to search for the Emperor. RSR was at disadvantage due to lack of cavalry and could cover less ground. All sides wanted to secure the Emperor, but Ikta was okay with Tel securing the Emperor. He tried to deploy his forces in a way that would act as deterrents to the forces clashing which was very tough due to various factors.

Anyway things did not go as well during the search process and clashes occurred. The Igsem geezer was crazy as f**k and had the best trained cavalry in the Empire. Matthew and Torway were almost killed but they survived. It was nice to see Matthew remaining calm in the face of danger. Torway defeated the Igsem geezer later. A few more chapters down from the manga and currently translated LN parts, you will find out about the wimpy nature of Torway and his brothers being assholes to him. Torway's accuracy is super high but he is too kind and finds it hard to shoot a human being. That's why the closer the range, the better he can see the face, the worse would be his accuracy. How Torway defeated the one-arm Igsem geezer was actually quite interesting. He first used a tactic that his father once used and surrounded and trapped Igsem geezer. He then challenged the geezer one-on-one. Geezer rushed him on his horse, Torway closed his eyes until the last moment. And he shot the arm of the geezer which was unexpected. This proved important as Torway knew about the OP powers of the Igsems and needed an element of surprise. Furthermore, because he was not aiming to kill, he was able to shoot with unerring accuracy at such close range. Of course I skipped many details and all 3 factions were actually there and Torway was in fact trying to rescue his bros and there were many factors and things that happened and blah blah too much work to go into them.

And the reason why Torway's brothers were being assholes to him was because they disapproved him of being in the army. They knew he was too nice to kill and he would die if he could not kill on the field. That's why they wanted him to not join the military and sneer at him and made fun of his cowardice and telling how shitty he was as a military man. All in all, great and satisfying character development and fleshing for Torway in this volume (we are only left with Halo now, who has practically zero development and hinted to be a spy of some sorts ).

Anyway, from clues and deduction, Ikta and Chamille forces reached the PM first. And that's the end of V6 bummer which annoyed me greatly

About the Igsem duty, we cannot really say that it's stupid or wrong if we understand the stakes behind it
The Igsem rationale is actually very simple. The military is given enormous power, and thus should be separated from governance because they could easily rule with power (with bias and non-objectivity; this is somewhat illustrated during Ikta's questioning of Tel.). The importance of preserving the command structure integrity is the foundation to the military and the stability of the country, for if one is given such great power and wields it to his own ends with no heed to authority, it will be disastrous to the country. The Igsem is a representation of absolute loyalty and a symbol of military integrity.

The main problem is the system of governance and the rigidity that the Igsem mindset imposed. But they are not really wrong in their beliefs. Just that by preserving the integrity of the military does not prevent the country from decaying due to internal rot from the system of governance. I'm sure Sol realized this but couldn't really find a way around it. Compromising the military integrity and setting a precedence of using force is also no good and can only result in constant civil war and cause the Empire to fall back to the dark ages. Only when the system of governance is changed can this be really resolved. I believe this is where Chamille will come in and with Ikta's resourcefulness and knowledge could change things.

First of all, thank you for the elaborate reply! Even if not all of my pesky questions were answered, I’m really glad that you sparred some of your time and satisfied my curiosity.

Speed-reading is also one of my bad "habits", I sometimes feel guilty over it, especially when I read fan made translations.

As for Halo, her time to shine will come with the upcoming volumes, as it did come for Torway in this and in the prior for Matthew. All in all, it will probably be dramatic, seeing as the chances of her being an Kokia spy are high, Yatori will undoubtedly try to execute her if it were exposed. What I would like to see is a volume that develops Yatori character further and answers some questions about herself and her motivations; is in her heart a place for uncompromising friendship or even love?

Yes, I agree, although if you cut yourself short on flexibility it could easily bring you and others to a downfall. To forsake your dear friends and loved ones for some "higher purpose", I really despise such dogmatism and fanaticism.

I started reading the manga and its good. Thanks for the summary lare. I will read it later after I read what's been translated in BT.

The manga is good and this type of story is my favorite. No stupid fan service and just plain old war. Reminds me of another good work that I don't remember of the title anymore because I don't remember seeing it being translated but the manga is translated. If someone know. Please reply and let me know. that story is about the prince who defend his country with his bluff alone against the undefeated princess and he even goes his way to meet the 2nd princess of the enemy empire. I don't remember much from the manga but that's what I remember. Sorry for the lack of clues.

But I like the prince who uses his wits to win. His a snake and his father is a cobra. Family of snakes.

This story reminds me of that or other stories that has brilliant tacticians. I really like it if it doesn't involve useless fan service and just focus on plot, politics and war.
