EDIT: Looking at the ad again, they seem to be adapting both his novels The Genocidal Organ and Harmony.

Is that Kana Hanazawa?!

The original works won a bunch of awards, so I'm as excited as I can be after watching just a text-only trailer.

Also, the official website says this is scheduled for 2015, not 2014, and as theatrical release(s) instead of a TV series.

I'm hyped as fuck. I had already heard of Itoh thanks to Hideo Kojima/MGS. His works sound terrific.

How is it related to Noitamina then?

They're expanding the brand, basically. noitaminA's turning 10 next year, and they're marking the occasion with some films — this along with the Psycho-Pass theatrical release.

It's nice they're expanding into movies, because it's abundantly clear that NoitaminA has abandoned all pretense at being any different than any other hour on the TV side. One show out of four that actually tries seems to be the new manta.

Considering the other shows that were announced alongside this I don't see how it's still possible to say this with a straight face.

Repeats - some of shows that weren't on NoitaminA in the first place? Harem LN adaptations? It's clear the charter has been abandoned, with the notion of the occasional recurrence as a means of claiming otherwise. There will still be occasional interesting shows on NoitaminA but it doesn't appear as if it's going to be at a different hit rate than any other hour on the anime schedule.

Unless you consider none of Yuasa, Watanabe/Kanno, new Psycho-Pass, or Shigatsu to be worthy of noitaminA, this definition of "abandonment" is ridiculous. I know the block isn't as consistent as it used to be, but the reports of its death are wildly premature.

They should get HanaKana to narrate more PsV. The entire thing was text but her delivery sold the atmosphere.

The author was in the hospital with terminal cancer when he wrote Harmony. That doesn't give rise to happy stories.

Really excited for these two movies. Finished Harmony late last year, and I was hoping for a movie of some sort for it. Still need to finish Genocidal Organ.

This looks pretty interesting tbh and I'm always a fan of Noitamina so I'm curious to see what they will do with this.

Official website has announced a re-release of Itoh's original novels, with cover illustrations by redjuice, for August 8.

Harmony teaser:

Nothing to see, really, but looking at the image of Kirie they're using, I'm wondering if Huke is doing the character design?
