The badassness of the Crown Clown was even highlighted in epic proportions when the score played the aria rendition to the Allen Walker's theme song.

The part when the Crown Clown materialized protecting Fou and Bak from the Akumas' threads then went to Allen.

My favorite part was Allen's realization.

Living for the akuma, but at the same time not losing sight of the world where all his friends are living since their shining has become his guiding light.

And yes, I noticed as well that the flashback images in the mirrors were focusing a lot on Lenalee.

The badassness just keeps rolling im so glad our patience paid off and now we know what Allens true role is and what it took for his innocence to activate. I had no clue i was so surprised but I liked the show just keeps getting better and better. Recently started reading the manga too just as good.

Also i do love how the thought/flashback scenes are handled in this series. For example Eliade's flashback and how Lenalee's dream was told. Beautiful is a nice way of putting it.

And the week has come for another D.Gray-man episode.

This episode was a bit calm even if was packed with several filler material. It covered the last half of chapter 85 of the manga and a bit of chapter 86.

Spoiler:

In summary, Allen's last moments at the Asia Branch before going to Edo via Noah's ark.

Two scenes that were implied and hinted at the manga but appeared onscreen in the anime were Allens' tests measuring the results of his true-Innocence and Komui's phone call.


And we have another cliffhanger that quite more or less turned as I predicted it would.

Just like guido said it is a cooldown episode. Nothing much happened besides the usual "getting back on track" and moving on, motivation speech bla bla...

The cliffhanger is such a tease and also the preview...seems like allen won't be jumping into the fight just yet. Looks like tykki is having some fun with taunting lavi (like even though he can probably kill lavi in won't hit, he chooses to have a few clashes with his hammer), and the earl...did he just...did he just make a lvl 4 akuma?

Do agree this really was a cool down one. Getting Allen ready to step forward and fight once again. You'd almost be surprised that they are willing to send him back in that thing since its a major advantage for the enemy in terms of transportation.

Sadly don't get to see Fou since she is on rehab. But its a relief to know she is alright and will be up and back to her fun self in no time .

No clue what that thing was in the preview. Level 4 is about as good a guess as I could have. At least going to be a big problem to take care of.

Luckily seems we're going to get the return of Kanda for some help.

We know that fou and bak survived the hit from the akuma but whilst I can understand how fou recovered (being a guardian with powers bla bla), bak on the other hand is a human (err...besides his powers to control the base structures). Just how did he survive? I am sure that his body is just like any other human...

Wow what a come down after last weeks episode. Allen is stuffing his face while his friend are getting PWN'D in Edo? It was all I could do to keep from fast forwarding through this one

Why didn't Allen crush the evil, heart eating, butterfly? He should have recognized it.

indeed, the next episode will conclude Allen's stay at the Asia Branch wrapping the complete epilogue for the ninth manga volume, then moving on to volume 10.
But, I'm certain they'll spend most of that episode with Allen saying his proper farewells before departing.

If possible, the next episode will end in a cliffhanger with a shot of the Cross Team getting their asses handed among the Noah, the Earl, and the whole legion of Level 3 Akuma.

- A pretty average and overlooked character for the mainstream audience.


But for the very few who might had remembered, he was featured along with the rest of the Asia Branch characters in the previous ending.


- This is a screenshot I made for the previous (5th) ending footage. At Fou's left hand, there he is our unknown and overlooked dude.

Strange, isn't it?

Because all the relevant Asia Branch members were featured either in the current opening and endings and made their respective debuts in the late 50's episodes, but this particular guy has made its first and only appearance for episode 71.

He was taken out in the current (6th) ending footage, that features Allen and all the Asia Branch staff behind him at the final shot.

The seventy-first episode can be thought as the eye of the hurricane. It was an interim stop between Allen restoring his Innocence and resuming the deathmatch at Edo.

The original scenes were planned to fill the gaps that the manga-ka either intended or deliberately left in the manga for readers' interpretations.

I was fearful that the animation staff would have left out Allen's departure to Fou, but I sighed with relief that I didn't.

As well, I felt nostalgic that throughout this episode several music tracks from the first soundtrack were reintroduced, because I missed for a long, long while the aura and atmosphere of the show's first season.

It was particularly pleasant for me to see again Reever, Johnny, and No. 65 back onscreen, and I kind of missed Komui's tongue-in-cheek twisters and buffoon voice.

I ponder at Bak's concerned attitude, and his words meaning that with Crown Clown if Allen's heart has been appeased. I may take it that in a very long future from now on Allen will have to be wary not to be crushed by his own kindness, that kindness that made him resolved to fight for the sake of both humans and Akuma.

Overall, this episode didn't escape the traditional convention of the shounen-genre, and that is that acted as cool down right after to an epic, climatic episode.

To me it would have sufficed if they have started the prologue with current state of situation faring at Edo, then moving right away to the state of affairs back at the Asia Branch.

Because when episode returned back to Edo, they left things exactly as they were with Tykki insinuating that Allen's on his way, and Lavi ready to go all out.

When Tyki said "he is still alive", i'm guessing he doesn't have any idea that he has reclaimed his innocence, mainly because he was talking about an Akuma bringing him back alive.

Thinking about another typical shounen trait, they'll probably take the time for Allen to appear in Edo. Just going by my own opinion, i'm guessing it'll be at the end of episode 73. Still, i'm waiting to find out what episode 74's title is, before i believe this anymore.

Also while i'm posting, has anyone made any avatars of Lou Fa that i could use?

And indeed tyki believes that the akuma he sent has already gotten to allen first so he will get a dam surprise when allen appears with his shiny new arm

But before that...seems like he will have fun toying with lavi ;__;
