Favourite Lyrics
Hey everybody I was just listening to one of my favourite songs and I was just struck by how awesome its lyrics were. I did a search of the music forums and didn't find a thread devoted to lyrics, so I wanted to create this thread! Lyrics are a huge part of songs for me and I feel like good ones are pretty scarce nowadays. Share your favourite lyrics! Here are a few of my favourites.

I like Japanese song lyrics a lot but there's the downside of getting translated... that's why I prefer just seeing them in their original language

I love looking up lyrics as well. There are some that are well-written and really speak out to you.
school food punishment, besides from rocking, has a distinctive way of writing lyrics. I don't think I can describe their style of music as anything other than artistic. I heard that the singer cried when she was writing this song, and I can definitely see why: Spoiler for percentage:
Kakenukeru is one of my absolute favorite songs from them, as it has this really uplifting feel: Spoiler for kakenukeru:
Supercell is one of my favorite artists as well. They made all of the classic Vocaloid songs and have gone official with their skills, and their singles really touch the heart. There's a lot of emotion as each song tells a bittersweet story with ryo's masterful compositions and nagi's sweet voice heightening the experience. Sayonara Memories is my favorite because it just feels so real. Spoiler for Sayonara Memories:
Sakomoto Maaya's Gravity stands out to me because it has nearly perfect English in it and you can feel the sorrow and loneliness of a person on their journey. This song really reflects Wolf's Rain perfectly. Spoiler for Gravity:
Gumi's Yowamushi Montblanc really stands out to me as a song that tells the story of a girl that's too afraid to move forward. I love DECO*27 and his songs. Spoiler for Yowamushi Montblanc:
Megurine Luka's Just Be Friends is also a very popular song that details the breaking up of a relationship. I think the video adds a lot to the meaning of this, and it really hits home for those who have experienced the same situation. Spoiler for Just Be Friends:
Madoka's ending Magia, apart from sounding freaking awesome, has some really powerful lyrics. Spoiler for Magia:

my favorite song, it fits me perfectly...
Unwell All day Staring at the ceiling Making friends with shadows on my wall All night Hearing voices telling me That I should get some sleep Because tomorrow might be good for something Hold on I'm feeling like I'm headed for a Breakdown I don't know why I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell I know, right now you can't tell But stay awhile and maybe then you'll see A different side of me I'm not crazy, I'm just a little impaired I know, right now you don't care But soon enough you're gonna think of me And how I used to be Me Talking to myself in public Dodging glances on the train I know I know they've all been talking 'bout me I can hear them whisper And it makes me think there must be something wrong With me Out of all the hours thinking Somehow I've lost my mind I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell I know, right now you can't tell But stay awhile and maybe then you'll see A different side of me I'm not crazy, I'm just a little impaired I know right now you don't care But soon enough you're gonna think of me And how I used to be I been talking in my sleep Pretty soon they'll come to get me Yeah, they're taking me away I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell I know, right now you can't tell But stay awhile and maybe then you'll see A different side of me I'm not crazy I'm just a little impaired I know, right now you don't care But soon enough you're gonna think of me And how I used to be Hey, how I used to be How I used to be, yeah Well I'm just a little unwell How I used to be How I used to be |

My favourite song, from my favourite band:
A Lesson Never Learned- Asking Alexandria "Please you have to help me This is not my true face If you could see my soul As I have seen my soul I could show it to you It's rotten It's poison Help me please Please, give me a f**king excuse I beg for just one reason to give you regret, regret! Are you with me or are you on your own It's time to choose your side So choose your side Are you with me or are you on your own It's time to choose your side So choose your f**king side Could be the end of the world I'd still be laid here on my own wasting my life away (x2) Hear me now Get off your knees Nothing changes within you pray I'm the closest thing to a God you'll ever know Get off your knees Open your eyes I'll regret, never again And I stand above you I'll regret, never again And I stand above you And I can't feel this pain anymore And I can't carry on this way I'm hiding behind false eyes Could be the end of the world I'd still be laid here on my own wasting my life away (x2) Over and over F**kn' hell F**K!"

Spoiler for pretty long:
Exemplifies Americanization and Californiacation greatly. It shows the...false dreams that Hollywood has, how it brainwashes people ("Sicker than the rest There is no test But this is what you're craving") and how it changes people ("Pay your surgeon very well To break the spell of aging").

[See the cemetery sky
Carmine red and deep Watch the oceans rising high It?s the human stain] Talk about the growing hunger Ask why with deep concern Don?t you think the human race is ceaselessly vain But it hurts to be alive, my friend In this silent tide we're driftwood passing by Don?t you wish you were a child again Just for a minute just for a minute more Hear the ticking of a clock The sound of life itself No one really wants to die To save the world Tell me that you're torn asunder From how we fail to learn And tell me as the earth goes under Where?s your anger now So it hurts to be alive, my friend In this masquerade where all one day must die Don?t you wish you were unborn again Just for a minute just for a minute more Tic toc The ticking that could tear asunder The beating from a heart of stone The lust of your divine prosperity 'Cause it costs to be alive, my friend And this life that someone merely gave to you That's the price you pay Minute by minute You beg for a minute more

One pill makes you larger And one pill makes you small, And the ones that mother gives you Don't do anything at all. Go ask Alice When she's ten feet tall. And if you go chasing rabbits And you know you're going to fall, Tell 'em a hookah smoking caterpillar Has given you the call. Call Alice When she was just small. When the men on the chessboard Get up and tell you where to go And you've just had some kind of mushroom And your mind is moving low. Go ask Alice I think she'll know. When logic and proportion Have fallen sloppy dead, And the White Knight is talking backwards And the Red Queen's "off with her head!" Remember what the dormouse said: "Feed your head. Feed your head. Feed your head" My new favourite! lyrics about alice and lsd |
