WOW, the anime is going with everything, nothing relevant has been censored, so that's the power of noitamina?
anyway, this episode perfectly summed up the yakuza arc, I think was used more than 5 chapters in that. and about the CG in fights, I think they do this to try to respect the essence of the manga, Inuyashiki has many scenes that looks something done by computer rather than a human artist. |

It does seem like his body is equipped with some kind of auto-pilot mode and he switches to it when the big lens appears on his forehead or the back of his head. Either way, he seems conscious of his actions even when he's in that mode, as indicated by his lack of surprise after the deed was done and his speech afterward. There is no doubt he was the one who wished for this punishment to be dealt out.

Jobs says, "God, why have you done this to me. All my life, I worshipped you, yet you destroyed my livestock, you blighted my crops, you killed my wife and children, you gave me a hundred horrible diseases, all because you had a bet going on with the devil? When the guy asks Inuyashiki, why this is happening to him when he has done good all of his life, I just couldn't help but recall the above quote from Stephen King's book Storm of the Century. Very good episode.

That said, I do think it was enlightening and worrying to see how far Inuyashiki would be willing to go. What I hope is that this doesn't send him down a slippery slope to villainy because he's pretty much the only major face of the kind side of humanity in this bleak world setting.

If he did not do that to the Yakuza, his own family would be killed like the Yakuza boss said. The only way for Inuyashiki to deal with that type of monsters is being a monster himself. Standard laws would be irrelevant while dealing with the mafia unless you are prepared to deal with the consequences. Either way, there is a clear difference between Inuyashiki's actions against humans compared to the "Bang" guy for example.
Anyway, i'm really happy to see alternative anime like this one being produced. I needed to see different characters from the usual kids with powers and harems for a change. Mappa is being amazing in that department by animating such stories. Regarding this title, since it was created by the same author as Gantz, i knew it would be amazing but i fear it will suffer from the same issues Gantz had... an horrible finale/last arc xD |
